batch renaming files: computer_help

I'm running Windows Vista. I have done the usual batch rename (select all - rename to 'filename(001)') and it's reordering my files in the order of original file name, instead of how I've placed them in the folder. I need to know if renaming files in the order placed in a folder is possible in Vista. Irregardless of original file name. Can anyone help? Please don't tell me to downgrade/upgrade/switch OS. Theyre made from a pattern I custom drafted and have been modifying for the past two years. Theyre made out of soft minky fabric with armature in their back legs and tail so they can stand upright and perky. These two will be for sale at DesignerCon in November, and later on my Etsy shop if they dont get adopted at the con.

December 13th, 2012. I'm behind on posting pictures again. This isn't totally up to date, but I didn't want to cram TOO many in.
