Diary of a coach's wife. Tales from the bleachers in small-town Alabama. Saturday, October 12, 2013. The Pride of Lions. It's week 7 of the 2013 high school football season at Victory Christian School. You pull on your blue and orange jersey. You strap your helmet on. You walk out onto the field and see the stands. They're full of people. Most of them are here to see the 20 members of the Homecoming Court. But at least they're here. What would it be like to feel like you have a chance? In July 2012, Coac...

Diary of a coach's wife. Tales from the bleachers in small-town Alabama. Thursday, May 24, 2012. We all know that none of us is promised a tomorrow. But sometimes we get so caught up in living life that we fail to appreciate what a gift it really is. We take our days for granted until something calls our attention to it. The Bobcat family got one of those wake-up calls on Monday. All baseball season, Coach Bailey talked with the guys about making the most of life's opportunities, of enjoying every minute...

Diary of a coach's wife. Tales from the bleachers in small-town Alabama. Wednesday, March 28, 2012. The Field Looks Good, Coach. I love this time of year. It's warming up and Spring is definitely here. After being cooped up for the winter, I really enjoy getting to take the boys out to the ballpark to watch some baseball. Does it matter what condition the field is in? Woodland hosted a baseball game on Tuesday. The field looked great, the best I've ever seen it. I know he's my husband, but if no ...When ...

Diary of a coach's wife. Tales from the bleachers in small-town Alabama. Tuesday, August 28, 2012. Coach and I had a lot, and I mean A LOT, of discussion before he decided to trade in the orange and blue for some purple. We knew there would be changes. And most of these are way more important than which color you wear on Friday nights. Yes.there are more important things. This would be a major transition for all of us, especially the boys. YepI think he's going to be alright. Thursday, August 9, 2012.

Diary of a coach's wife. Tales from the bleachers in small-town Alabama. Friday, August 9, 2013. Well Begun Is Half Done. It's 7 weeks into the season. There's under 2 minutes left in the game. It's 4th and 4. Your opponent has the ball on their 40 yard line. Your team is up by a touchdown. A stop here puts the ball back into the hands of your offense. They can run out the clock and keep your hopes of an Area Championship alive. We think of football as a fall sport. But every player, coach, and membe...

Diary of a coach's wife. Tales from the bleachers in small-town Alabama. Tuesday, October 23, 2012. I was so excited and nervous about Devin's first swim meet. He had 8 real practices prior to this first meet, so I wasn't expecting to see a Michael Phelps-like performance. I really just wanted him to enjoy it. I let him talk about what happened. He was upset. I knew he wanted to disappear, but he had three races left. It was time that he start learning some of the lessons that sports can teac...To them&#...
