August 18, 2016. War — Free-Verse Poem (Class Conglomerate). I stand at the edge of the trench and feel like my ears have exploded. Yet the pain of my heart reaches beyond the misery of the trenches. It reaches to my loved ones at home, to the safety of my family. My head is wrenched out of a daydream as my ears are pierced with the sound of an explosion. It pushes me back into the piled earth behind me, no, not the earth,. My sight fades, I feel myself dying, becoming a mere addition to the pile.

As many (or few) of us know, the Aborigines of Australia roamed the land before any European -or other- person discovered Australia.
