Angela's History Blog

Sunday, August 2, 2015. Go Set A Watchman. Because this blog follows my teaching and learning of history, I find it appropriate to share my reaction to Harper Lee's newest release, Go Set a Watchman. When I initially heard that this book would finally be published, I was ecstatic. To Kill a Mockingbird. Is, without a doubt, my favorite book. I could literally reread it hundreds of times and not get tired of it. It was difficult to read the book, its tone is so different from Mockingbird. But only because...

Angela's History Blog: September 2014

http://www.angelashistoryblog.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html

Thursday, September 18, 2014. Where I am, and Where I Want to Go. I think I've settled on a topic for the inquiry blogs. As a History major, and student teacher in history classes, I'd like to spend some time on the Great Depression, or possibly the Dust Bowl. This would give me the opportunity to study a subject that I love, as well as expose students to a super important time period in U.S. History. One of my favorite Ken Burns documentaries chronicles the Dust Bowl. The preview can be viewed here.

Angela's History Blog: Dust Bowl Infographic

http://www.angelashistoryblog.blogspot.com/2014/11/dust-bowl-infographic.html

Wednesday, November 12, 2014. November 19, 2014 at 3:52 PM. What I love about your project is that you structured your infographic like a newspaper. So great! The dustbowl was a huge component of the Great Depression and why it persisted for so long, I think its great to discuss this topic. I do not have any critiques for this infographic. If you wouldnt mind, I would actually like to use this in my US History class next semester. Great job! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Affordances … #BlackLivesMatter … Hmm →. December 4, 2014 · 6:00 pm. My #Currins545 Students (Reading in. The Content Areas) have just completed their visualization projects for the semester. Having used this assignment for three semesters, I’ve noticed how this project really tends to signal a turning point in the course, a moment in which the students experience hands-on a deeper understanding of their content. What impressed me most this semester is how deeply the students were able to analyze their o...
