Foster Home: May 2013
http://candcfoster.blogspot.com/2013_05_01_archive.html
This was scheduled to post last week? Annoying. Oh well- it's here now! Why, you ask? Why in the world would I want to get rid of perfectly good stuff? First and foremost,. I just HATE it when there is more stuff than I have appropriate places for. It helps us fight the lie that stuff will make us happy. Our lifestyle doesn't/won't allow for the accumulation of stuff. So here's to Project Simplify: Foster Style. Let's hope Collin doesn't want to strangle me in the process. Exciting, I know.

Foster Home: March 2014

On being pregnant away from home. I'm not always sure what home is, but for the purposes of this post I intend something like, "my culture of origin.". Navigating prenatal care is kind of weird, unknown territory the first time you do it at home or in a new culture. I found both slightly intimidating at first, but as you jump in people are helpful and accommodating. And ramen noodles (even more embarrassing. no explanation). Expectations, "must-dos," and prohibitions of pregnancy vary from culture to cul...

Random excerpts from life lately:. So I am at the point in pregnancy where we can find out whether this little one in my belly is a boy or girl, but we still have to wait a couple of weeks and it is KILLING ME. So I have been playing with the silly old wives tales like I did with Addy, despite the fact that most of them were wrong last go round. My favorite world travel buddies:. She prefers to call them "handles." She found this little guy, which isn't super hard when they're everywhere, and she rea...

Project simplify: week 3. Yea, we took a couple of weeks off. Given some travel and the Virus from Hades. It just wasn't happening for us. So we're trying to get back on track this week, and here's where we're at:. I'm too lazy to type about it all today, so you can just go to Pinterest. And look if you're actually interested. White grape and cherry popsicles. We have a new obsession with homemade popsicles. We got these popsicle molds. 4 cups white grape juice. 1 Tbsp sugar or honey. 5 Freeze 'em. I...

Lots of people are writing lots of good stuff right now. I am not one of them. Between nearly 2 weeks of travel, some side jobs, and this weird "almost but not yet" stage our family has been stuck in for longer than anticipated. yea. The writing bug just hasn't hit me this month. The good news is that the writing bug HAS hit some other people who are writing quality stuff. Here's a few things I've enjoyed recently:. Home stays with you always. Have you missed your life's calling?

Foster Home: What could have been
http://candcfoster.blogspot.com/2014/12/what-could-have-been.html
What could have been. The following is a list of just a jumble of blog post titles I wish that I could have written this year, but alas life has just been too full. Between a toddler/almost-preschooler, a newborn, language learning, and another international move upon us, the thoughts rest in my head. Here's hoping they get into writing someday. Hospitality when Life isn't Perfect (or when you're on process of an international move.). Surviving Newborn Sleep Deprivation 101. Family Life in Big Transitions.

Foster Home: snippits of life
http://candcfoster.blogspot.com/2015/01/snippits-of-life.html
After apartment hunting for a few days, we signed on the bottom floor of a house to live in that is perfect for us. We live under our land lady, and her son and his family live on the top floor. They are awesome. We have felt very welcomed and cared for by them. It has everything Addy prayed for: a bathtub, a potty, and a place to play outside. It's surprisingly very cold and pretty empty right now, but we're glad to be here. Conversations with our neighbors and community have involved everything from th...

So much to delight in. It's been awhile, I know. Sorry about that, but it's been a doozie of a month. That said. We did it: travelled across an ocean, between countries, a camel ride into the desert, and back again. Yeah, that happened. And it was awesome. On a serious note, considerations for traveling with a walking, talking sort of baby:. Ergo baby carrier: worth the $. Camel ride was a cinch. It's for the baby? And will even move you to the front of the line if the baby starts screaming. Snackage....
