Tuesday, January 31, 2006. We had breakfast on Sunday to farewell one family of neighbours. We are so lucky that we have neighbours who are also friends, someone who you can have a cup of tea with if you want to, or just wave to from your car if you would rather not chat. I certainly appreciated being able to pop next door to borrow an egg, have a jar opened or even (on one occasion! Have the knife pulled out of the pumpkin when it was firmly stuck. I will miss our waves, cups of tea, and our chats.

Monday, June 26, 2006. Well, here I am, on the eve of the Soccer World Cup Round 2 Game - Australia vs Italy. All alone as everyone is home, but gone to bed. I feel like I am the Grinch, or Scrooge, or some other grumpy character as I just can't get the idea of watching a 1 am game into my head. All I can see is bouncy, happy, energetic children tomorrow, or worse, bouncy, energetic, unhappy children. So here I am - Bah Humbug, no World Cup game for me! Here is a bit of Trivia from a World Cup site.

Thursday, May 29, 2008. If this evil grin doesn't frighten off any potential tooth knocker-outers, I don't know what will! Miss Ange is now ready to play Inter-School soccer. A mouthguard is a pre-requisite - you are not allowed on the field unless you have one. Doesn't time see a lot of changes - when I was young.I am not sure we knew what a mouthguard was! Thursday, July 20, 2006. We are in the grip of a "cold snap". Just remembering that we do live in tropical NQ, where jumpers are well hidden except for the few weeks of winter. Today is a drizzly, wet, cold day by our standards - I think the temperatures have hovered around 18c all day, down to 10c last night. I am trying to remember what those endlessly hot summer days and nights feel like so I appreciate this bit of coldness - but I am failing! Posted by megz mum @ 2:25 PM. Links to this post. Thursday, May 25, 2006. Grocery shopping is not high on my list of "enjoyable activities" - in fact, I could be bold and say it really rates very low. So anything that makes this a more agreeable thing to do can't be all bad. For instance, when doing the shopping this week, I visited the deli counter ready to order the usual shaved honey leg ham, or, if it was on special, ham off the bone. Does this mean the little pigs were set loose in the paddock to do their own thing? Here is a link to an article.

Wednesday, March 29, 2006. Do you remember a while ago, I wrote and said that "things happen" when megzdad goes away. Well.he was away again last night, and.things happened! I woke up at 3.53 am (I know the exact time because I was so impressed at being woken up) to an insistent short, sharp "cheep" repeated at approximately 20 second intervals (I know because I lay there and counted.). Amendment - the electrician ended up taking the whole unit away as he could not stop it cheeping with the new battery a...

Thursday, March 27, 2008. This Saturday night will be the symbolic turning off of the lights for Earth Hour. Earth Hour started last year in Sydney, where businesses were asked to turn their lights off for 1 hour to heighten awareness of the need for action on global warming. This year, Earth Hour is a global project and hopefully it will make a lot more people think about the part they can play and steps they can take to preserve our beautiful planet. Have a good product. They have stopped asking for al...

Sunday, April 30, 2006. I thought I would do a little summary post, otherwise I will never catch up! The mystery bike rider. Again, thank you to those who left a comment on this one. No closer to a definitive answer on the reason for walking a bike, will have to keep watching to see if there are any developments! We had lots of good chats and catch-ups. The girls saw "Eight Below Zero" with their cousin. Apparently "the best movie ever! They all cried and had a wonderful time. Today We had a lovely day t...

Sunday, February 26, 2006. Just a quick comment to say how much I am enjoying the series "House". This and Numbers are probably the only shows I make a point of seeing, although other shows do sneak in as favourites also. I love the story lines, the little sub-plots and Dr House's sarcasm. Hugh Laurie is a great actor. Hard to believe he is also the dad in the "Stuart Little" movies - very different role. And a terminally ill young girl? Here is a link to reviews of "House".
