My Scoreboard | Angle of Reflection
https://angleofreflection.wordpress.com/training-program/my-scoreboard
My journey from amateur to pro. Below I have established dashboards to monitor progress as I improve my pool playing skills. Break Shot Speed Development. I am now working on my break shot. The guage below monitors my current average breaking speed. I have been told that the average pool player normally breaks at around 17 mph, most professionals break at around 24 mph. Of course, speed is not the only factor which contributes to the success of a break shot. More on that later. August 6, 2014 at 6:52 pm.

My journey from amateur to pro. The key to improving yourself is having a plan and monitoring your progress. I have three pages under the Training Program tab. Below I provide a brief summary of each. If you want to improve a process you need to come up with a way to measure it. I update my scoreboard periodically based on my performance. This provides objective feedback, shows me where I need to focus my efforts, and allows me to track my performance over time. Follow me on Twitter. The new best quote o...

Safeties | Angle of Reflection
https://angleofreflection.wordpress.com/the-drills/safeties
My journey from amateur to pro. As I’ve stated before, the ability to execute a good safe can easily mean the difference between winning or losing a match against a tough opponent. Very few people practice safes. Don’t fall into that trap! If you practice your safties, you’ll have an advantage over more skilled players and you will win many more matches. The Rolling Safe Drill. The Half Ball Safe Shots. Play a tough bank and hope for the best? Are you kidding me? The Half Ball Shot (a). To make the shot,...

http://poolminnow.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html
Sucking less at pool one day at a time. Sunday, July 17, 2011. Perhaps easier said than done.still inspiring to see it happen. Links to this post. Wednesday, July 6, 2011. How would you play this? Its the little things. Okay, this isn't a pool table scenario I'm asking about, but a match scenario (besides I still haven't figured out cue table): When someone is distracting you during a match, what do you do? Here are a couple of scenarios that happened recently:. Did this affect the outcome of my match?

Sucking less at pool one day at a time. Tuesday, October 19, 2010. Just a little bit. Okay, so now I have not one, but two longer almost completed posts in need of editing, but no time to finish them, so just a brief recap on the APA Singles Regionals a couple weeks ago: I lost. So, the next week, I started working a little bit of exercise into my daily schedule. And then a couple things became apparent to me:. 1) I am in TERRIBLE shape! Links to this post. http://developingsportingtalent.blogspot.com/2009/08/coaching-children-and-5-cs.html
Insights, thoughts and perspectives for coaches, teachers and parents keen to help young athletes maximise their potential. Thursday, 6 August 2009. Coaching Children and the 5 C's. I have just come away from a conference where they have been talking about the way we coach children and how we should develop them as people and athletes. They suggested that we should be looking to develop the '5 C's' in kids whenever we coach them. So what are the 5 C's? Character - Young peoples' personalities should be n...

A Journey Into Billiards. A documentary of my growing passion for pool. Monday, February 22, 2010. 3-Rail Kicks: The Short Rail System. As I mentioned in my last entry, Saturday night I learned 2 different 3-rail kicking systems. The first one, which I'll refer to as the "Short-Rail-System" (SRS), is depicted below. Here's a jpg of the diagram for those shockwave-challenged viewers). Game I'll have 2 systems to exercise, not just educated guesses. :). Sunday, February 21, 2010. So, last night I headed ov...
A Journey Into Billiards: It'll Get Worse Before It Gets Better

A Journey Into Billiards. A documentary of my growing passion for pool. Friday, February 19, 2010. It'll Get Worse Before It Gets Better. It's very, very frustrating though. I've also discovered a new flaw: my line of sight isn't always where my cue is going. I haven't been able to pinpoint the exact types of shots when this happens, but it's only a select few. Having the cueball frozen on the rail with the object more than half a table away is one such example. A 9-ball situational drill:. New Game Expe...

Pool nut, adventurer, eater of many foods. Tuesday, October 2, 2012. Don't hate the game, hate the idiot who didn't even try. The closemindedness of some people is exasperating. On 3 separate occasions, here in León, Nicaragua. Fellow travelers have negatively commented, unsolicited, on the local rules without having even tried the game:. Pool nut, adventurer, eater of many foods. Thursday, December 8, 2011. The 5 perils of billiard travel. We've all been there - you're in a new place, looking for a good game of pool, but something about the table is not quite right. You might say a good player should not worry, since the equipment is the same for both players, but occasionally it's just a bit extreme. This is a compilation of common and less common problems, annoyances and pet peeves about playing in unfamiliar places. Now I hate pool!
