http://silentsportschicago.blogspot.com/2013_07_01_archive.html
Bicycles, fly fishing, camping and all things awesome outdoors. Tuesday, July 23, 2013. Had a friend from Rhode Island in this past weekend and in the spirit of Adventure we took off to Salt Creek for a little Tenkara. With temperatures in the mid to upper 90's it felt wonderful to have our feet in the water. Within 5 casts he had his first fish on. Tenkara! He had about 5 total fish and 3 species. Silent Sports Chicago: January 2013
http://silentsportschicago.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html
Bicycles, fly fishing, camping and all things awesome outdoors. Tuesday, January 1, 2013. Last Tenkara of 2012. Last Tenkara of 2012. Cold, windy day on the Fox River, but still very nice to be outside and in the river. This mission was more recon than a solid attempt to catch fish. I've work a nice stretch of the river south of Batavia and about half way to Aurora. Good amount of islands, cuts, eddies, and access to the thin deep part of the main channel. 2013 will be the year of the FOX. I and M Canal.

Down the Danube: Bye- Bye Wheels
http://homerpearl.blogspot.com/2011/07/bye-bye-wheels.html
Friday, July 1, 2011. On to Poland. Entirely flat, and unfortunately located directly between the Soviets and Germany, this nation has been marched across by both of those armies time after time. So much so that Polish jokes began like; How do you stop a Polish army on horseback? 160; Turn off the carousel. Tomorrow we have a tour lined up to Auschwitz. That will be depressing, but interesting as a part of history. I have been wanting to see it. 160; Lawrence of Poland. July 2, 2011 at 12:24 PM. Today...

Down the Danube: January 2008
http://homerpearl.blogspot.com/2008_01_01_archive.html
Wednesday, January 30, 2008. Friday, January 18, 2008. Tim, you are my hero, for actually commenting on the blog! Received the maps today from adventure cycling, so I will start looking at them with the object of finding out if we can do this without a tent at all for backup. Heard from a friend named Blake, who's done this before, that he averaged 55 miles/day, but there wasn't always a bed convenient. Have to think about that. I'm sure Laura won't mind a bivouac or two. Down the Danube: What Fourth?
http://homerpearl.blogspot.com/2011/07/what-fourth.html
Tuesday, July 5, 2011. Well, the fourth is a real dud over here in Italy, understandable since their independence day is March 17, 1861. We were trashed anyway from the all night train ride from Vienna to Milan. Had a sleeper car, but I think maybe a drunk driver. Rocked and swayed, jerked and vibrated the entire night. Things improved once we arrived in Levanto. . But the lemon trees, grapevines, bougainvillea, olive tree orchards, wild gardenias, palm trees and Volkswagen sized agave cactus make up for...

Down the Danube: February 2008
http://homerpearl.blogspot.com/2008_02_01_archive.html
Saturday, February 23, 2008. Waiting for the Bike. Saturday, February 16, 2008. While going over the maps the other day, Laura noticed that the route we are taking from Oregon to Denver was about 2000 miles on the mapped route. Needless to say, this caused much apprehension since she thought it was only going to be about 1200. Wonder how she got the wrong info? Monday, February 11, 2008. And no snow. Please confirm.
