A spot on some of the things an Anglophile finds.delightful. Devon Delights: A Return to Dartmoor. There was a a perfect foggy midst settling upon the moor. It was a scene befitting of Conan Doyle himself. In fact I felt quite in a similar position as I traveled through Dartmoor by coach with 59 other Holmesians this September. The residence was Dartington Hall, near Totnes. The 14. The weekend kicked off Friday night with a meal in the 14. The final event of the evening consisted of a video compiled by ...

A spot on some of the things an Anglophile finds.delightful. Theatrical Delights: Different perspective, different outcomes. I have gotten past not knowing the time period before, after all every piece of Shakespeare was of course written hundreds of years ago, therefore, this wasn't the issue; how it was put together to take hold of and keep an audience throughout the story that makes good theatre. Brought a stoic bravery to Queen Elizabeth who could not control what was going on around her.

From Woods to Words | trees to pulp to paper to words

Can It Some More. From Woods to Words. Trees to pulp to paper to words. Yes, I’m Still Around. April 7, 2014 by anglophile0146. It has been ages since I’ve blogged. This winter every time I thought of it, it seemed as if all I could do was whine. Who wants to read anything from a whiner? Even the writer doesn’t. So finally the winter is over, spring is here. Our daffodils and tulips have bloomed and Bruce has planted the vegetable garden. Happy Spring, everyone, wherever you are! To Burn or Not. Yes, ora...

Thoughts and Memories of Vladimir

Thoughts and Memories of Vladimir. Thursday, 10 December 2009. A Summation of Class. I loved this class partly due to the fact that I had read and love Nabokov as a writer. He has always been one of my favorites, but I had never looked below the surface of his works. I was one of those people that read Nabokov for fun, and now I know that as a reader you miss so much unless you get all the clues that he leaves for you along the way. As I reread Transparent Things for class awhile back I was struck how ea...

Anglophile in Academia

Saturday, August 23, 2014. I have a new website! It's been awhile since my last post, but for good reason. This past Spring, I attended job interviews, accepted a new position, defended my dissertation and graduated, moved to New York state, and created a syllabus for a new class! I'm now the Assistant Professor for Interdisciplinary and Digital Teaching and Scholarship. At SUNY New Paltz. And I'm teaching a 19th Century interdisciplinary digital humanities class themed around Sherlock Holmes's London.
