The Questing Vole: April 2012
http://questingvole.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html
Passing feather-footed through the plashy fens of life, sniffing out curiosities, amusing trifles and scandals from the worlds of culture, politics, news and sport. Friday, April 06, 2012. Nice to sink you, to sink you nice. Of all the Titanic tie-ins at the moment, the most inspired surely has to be Titanic with Len Goodman. 8211; or Dancing on Iceberg as Jon Holmes memorably described it on Radio 4. The Strictly Come Dancing. 8211; and feelers are already being put. The series that everyone wants to se...

The Questing Vole: Pats on the back
http://questingvole.blogspot.com/2013/03/pats-on-back.html
Passing feather-footed through the plashy fens of life, sniffing out curiosities, amusing trifles and scandals from the worlds of culture, politics, news and sport. Tuesday, March 26, 2013. Pats on the back. It's a tribute to everyone in the department, from the top man down to the hard-working unsung subs who stop us from looking too idiotic every day, and I'm proud to have been part of the team for eight years, even if at times it feels like my role amounts to that of Gary Pratt during the 2005 Ashes.

Matthew Harffy blogs about his Dark Ages historical novels. Listen to the Prologue of The Serpent Sword. Monday, 19 January 2015. REVIEW: THE SCARLET THIEF by Paul Fraser Collard. By Paul Fraser Collard. My rating: 5 of 5 stars. The battle scenes are relentless, with blood, mud and entrails splashed over the pages, as the troops are scythed down by rifle and cannon fire. The first in a series, THE SCARLET THIEF, is an easy 5 stars. View all my reviews. Wednesday, 7 January 2015. It is usual at this time ...

Formerly Reader's Diary. 8220;Night Soldiers”. August 28, 2016. No Comments on Night Soldiers. 8220;Odinn’s Child”. You would think that writing a dull book about Vikings would be as difficult as losing money running a liquor store, but Severin doesn’t manage to make anything interesting happen in this novel. I only read the whole thing in hopes that he was laying the groundwork for subsequent books in the series, but half way through the equally tedious second volume I gave up. July 11, 2016. A story ab...

Graham Edwards – Facts About Fiction: May 2010
http://grahamedwards.blogspot.com/2010_05_01_archive.html
Graham Edwards – Facts About Fiction. Wednesday, 26 May 2010. Robin Hood and Bosworth Field. Are inevitable, I guess, and Robin Hood. Falls a little short. It lacks heart, somehow, and Ridley makes a few clunky gear changes, missing golden opportunities to please the crowd with a decent bout of air-punching. Best part of the evening was hearing how my good friend Pete Riley. Who I saw the film with, was part of the team who discovered the real site of the Battle of Bosworth Field. Posted by Graham Edwards.
