Gateway Quilts and Stuff. A blog for all people who love quilting and looking at quilts. Tuesday, December 9, 2014. FAT QUARTER DRAWING #4. Owned the local shop. She was a wonderful teacher with lots of great stories of her travels. The class lasted four weeks. Each week we would learn a new technique, starting out with the basics (rotary cutting, piecing, etc.) I remember how expensive that first purchase was! Today's group of fabrics is from the Bella Suedes collection with P&B Textiles. I teach a work...

12 Days of Christmas. Christmas Tree Skirts (2). Swirling Branches Wall Hanging. This Christmas tree skirt came from a pattern published by Susan Rand and Paula Kemperman and measures approximately 45". I machine pieced and hand quilted this one in 1989 or thereabouts - I can't remember! I made this wallhanging in 1999, since we thought at the time that we wouldn't be spending Christmas at home. Huh? As it turned out, we did stay home, after all, so I ended up with this and. 12 Days of Christmas. I made ...

Quilt Obsessions: April 2012

Monday, April 30, 2012. I don't make many matchy-matchy quilts but sometimes one just strikes you and you have to give in. I love them but usually lean towards scrappy quilts. Gotta use all this fabric somehow! I saw this exact pattern in a magazine a few years ago and a vendor at our local quilt show had all the fabric by Jackie Robinson. And remember this quilt. Here is our sweet Everleigh one year later doing her favorite thing.eating.just like her mama! She does really well feeding herself. I actuall...

Mike's Quilts

I made this quilt for my husband to use as a throw (it measures 45 1/4" x 50 1/4"). It took me a long time to come up with what I wanted to make for him, but I knew it had to have purple in it, since that's his favorite color! I finally settled on this Log Cabin variation, giving a woven effect; the layout for it was sent to me by another quilter online. I then translated that layout into a QuiltPro pattern (available. Even the back of the quilt is garden-themed, as it's a vegetable and garden-tool print.
