Pink Thumb

Wednesday, February 26, 2014. I'm making a come back! Yes, I'm still here! I haven't blogged since 2011 (holy tomato! A Nikon 7000 so you'll be seeing my veggie garden in hi-res now ;). Friday, July 29, 2011. We've had some icky weather the last couple of weeks. It went from 112F at one point to just soaking swampy wet rain. It's been making yard work quite unbearable. I haven't set foot in the garden except to snag a few things and run. There's lots of basil, some cucumbers and more tomatoes. I cleared ...

Pink Thumb: Harvest 5.22.11

http://www.anitaspinkthumb.blogspot.com/2011/05/harvest-52211.html

Sunday, May 22, 2011. Harvest 5.22.11. There's lot in my veggie garden. I harvested spinach, lettuce, kale, arugula and cilantro. Kale, lettuce, spinach. Arugula, cilantro, spinach. Kale and radish tops. In the bed, I planted all my heirloom tomatoes and trimmed my herbs and kale back. I cleared all the spinach out today to make room for my peppers. My cilantro is really tall. The peas are coming in and my Swiss chard is about 6" tall now (back). San Mateo carpet cleaners. January 10, 2012 at 6:59 AM.

Pink Thumb: April 2010

Wednesday, April 28, 2010. It's rained and it's chilly! It's a good thing I haven't put out the summer seedlings yet. The cold weather crops are doing great! Kale and peas. I harvested some kale for dinner last night. It was delicious! Escarole - They are about 8" in diameter now with lots of leaves! The little 4 leaf seedlings next to them are zinnias. Bok choy - They are starting to look like bok choy now. Sunday, April 25, 2010. It was a beautiful day to work outside yesterday. I planted some zinn...

Pink Thumb: March 2011

http://www.anitaspinkthumb.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html

Monday, March 21, 2011. We had a beautiful weekend here . We threw a party for Guinness to celebrate his birthday and all the dogs played outside. How cute are they? The next day, the boys were helping me in the garden. I love it. They just keep me company everywhere I go. Tuesday, March 8, 2011. I seem to have lost my seeds from last year, so I ordered new seeds from Renee's Garden. In a container, I started some yellow pear seeds. In seed starting mix. Pink Thumb: May 2010

http://www.anitaspinkthumb.blogspot.com/2010_05_01_archive.html

Thursday, May 27, 2010. It's only been 5 days and my plants have really taken to the raised bed. Between the heat and rain, everything has really taken off. My cucumber plants are so tall and so are the zinnias. I noticed some holes in the leaves today so I made a garlic mixture to spray the leaves. I also placed cardboard (toilet paper rolls) around the base of my squash which is suppose to prevent some kinda of worm. Sunday, May 23, 2010. Harvested some arugula for a salad. Saturday, May 22, 2010.

The other picture is of the Cherry tomatoes (front) and the Tiny Tims (another cherry tomato) I sowed about three weeks ago. Clueless Gardener in Dubai: The Patio is Producing!

Clueless Gardener in Dubai. A blog about my attempts to grow vegetables and flowers in Dubai. Tuesday, 11 January 2011. The Patio is Producing! Where did all the nasty pests go? I don't really want to know. But what I have worked out is that plants that are well fed and looked after at the early stages have a better chance of thriving and producing than those that come under stress when young. Leaf miners, caterpillars, thrips and all the rest of you, stay away! Coriander alongside Pak Choi and Okra.

Clueless Gardener in Dubai. A blog about my attempts to grow vegetables and flowers in Dubai. Tuesday, 2 November 2010. I wish I had some brilliant pics of healthy plants bending with the weight of ripe tomatoes, snow peas gone wild all over a trellis, rows of crunchy lettuces and pots of fragrant herbs- pics to feel proud of and to begin this blog. Unfortunately, I have nothing of the sort. Seems to be the fastest growing so far. Got some nine onions hopefully growing under that soil. A UK variety- not ...

Clueless Gardener in Dubai. A blog about my attempts to grow vegetables and flowers in Dubai. Sunday, 30 January 2011. What You See Is What You Get. Pak Choi has been the most successful and abundant crop- so much so that I don't really know what to do with it. Mainly, i just stir fry it with other veg. Well, you already know about me and beans. They have to be my favourite side vegetable, lightly fried in olive oil with a little crushed garlic and a dash of rock salt. Mixed herbs for roast chicken.

Clueless Gardener in Dubai: How I Set Up My Terrace Garden

http://cluelessgardenerindubai.blogspot.com/2010/11/how-i-set-up-my-terrace-garden.html

Clueless Gardener in Dubai. A blog about my attempts to grow vegetables and flowers in Dubai. Tuesday, 2 November 2010. How I Set Up My Terrace Garden. On the advice of numerous websites, I set out to hunt for compost. In Dubai. It doesn't exist-atleast not in the major garden centres and supermarkets. A big lady who looked like the boss of the flowery-shirt team in Dubai GC told me the potting soil is. Is for the fragile seeds that are now battling the elements and my inexperience in the pots outside.

Clueless Gardener in Dubai. A blog about my attempts to grow vegetables and flowers in Dubai. Saturday, 15 January 2011. Basil and Tomato- A match made in heaven. I absolutely adore Basil. The smell, the texture, the taste- yummm. And how beautifully it pairs with tomato! On such a blustery Saturday afternoon, I needed something hot and comforting for lunch. A Tomato Mozzarella and Basil Tart seemed like just the thing. Basil Tomato and Mozzarella Tart. Tomato mozzarella basil tart. I always seem to run ...

Clueless Gardener in Dubai. A blog about my attempts to grow vegetables and flowers in Dubai. Tuesday, 9 November 2010. What's Ailing My Bougainvillea. I always seem to run into problems with the easiest growing plants. I mean palms and bougainvilleas- two things that grow so wildly here in the UAE always flop and wilt and get attacked in my garden. Fingers crossed soon I'll have those lush plants I see all the time, flowing over villa walls- more blooms than leaves. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

That Wife married to That Husband living That Life. Who is That Wife? Learn About the LDS Faith. Something To Watch Over. December 3, 2008 in Goals. Lately I’ve been feeling this desire to nurture something. We aren’t dog people, cats don’t appeal to me, and I already did the hamster thing once before. Wasn’t my little hamster Massimo cute? I really want a snake, like my old hairstylist, but That Husband says no. Plus I also want a baby someday, and then snake might try to eat our baby. Chick in the Czech.
