HOME GROWN ALBERTA: Is industrial agriculture here to stay?
http://abhomegrown.blogspot.com/2008/06/is-industrial-agriculture-here-to-stay.html
Ruminations on food and social change. Wednesday, June 25, 2008. Is industrial agriculture here to stay? For those who can afford it, there will always be a place for the artisanal farmer, who harks back to a mythologised rural British past and whose touchy-feely methods are as much about marketing as agriculture. HOME GROWN ALBERTA: Local Food at Calgary Stampede
http://abhomegrown.blogspot.com/2008/06/local-food-at-calgary-stampede.html
Ruminations on food and social change. Tuesday, June 24, 2008. Local Food at Calgary Stampede. Posted by Local Grrrl. It is without much thought that many Stampeders chow down corn dogs and mini donuts that have little to do with agricultural history in Alberta (at least I think). Perhaps fried prairie oysters would be more appropriate! Carrottop;) (which is actually a misnomer as it is carrot bottoms that are orange). June 24, 2008. July 02, 2008. HOME GROWN ALBERTA: Envisioning a New West...
http://abhomegrown.blogspot.com/2008/06/envisioning-new-west.html
Ruminations on food and social change. Thursday, June 19, 2008. Envisioning a New West. The west is also marked by oil and gas, but also the livestock industries. We are endangering, perhaps irreversibly, our water and air quality by virtue of these industries. Unfortunately, they are so bound up with Albertan identity that to criticize them is akin to being a traitor to the region. September 28, 2008. 100 Canadian Foods to Eat. Andrew at Very Good Taste. Peaked my interest with his list of VGT's Omnivore's Hundred. After responding to this list. I looked for more and found the Big List of "Things You Must Eat". I then knew that I must come up with a list that focused on the top 100 Canadian items to consume. Below is the list. The rules will be along the same lines as Andrew's list:. 1) Copy this list into your blog or journal, including these instructions. 4) Post a comment here.

Ruminations on food and social change. Wednesday, July 2, 2008. A report we should all be aware of. Imagine if the Alberta government took this report seriously (okay, I know, stretch your imagination a bit)- what would it do to Alberta beef? Ref: http:/ www.pewtrusts.org/news room detail.aspx? Maple Syrup and Poutine: May 2009
http://maplesyrupandpoutine.blogspot.com/2009_05_01_archive.html
May 17, 2009. One of the worst symptoms of this pregnancy is the food aversions. Normally, there aren't many things that I will not eat, or at least try. During my first few months, I was not interested in eating much at all. Not eating obviously equalled not cooking. It has only been since late April that I have jumped back on the cooking train. For Mother's Day, and my mom's birthday, we celebrated by preparing a lovely meal. I have never used so much buttermilk in one menu! Gingered Orange Sweet Tea.

Some meals we have had over the past month have included:. Flank Steak over Corn Kernel Polenta. With Tomato, Basil and Balsamic salad. Couscous Stuffed Cornish Hens.
