All the trim and baseboard and staircases and kitchen cabinets were done in the then ubiquitous 'golden oak'. Also there was no custom millwork. But there is now! Tuesday, February 28, 2012. Jacobson Construction was commissioned by artist Michelle DeVilliers. To build a window seat that allowed for hidden storage below. We designed this for her. The top is made from 6/4 maple to match the craft table. That is already in the space. The base is designed to match the five-panel shaker doors that are throughout the house. The final result. Thursday, April 2, 2015. Jacobson Construction recently won a contract to build some office furniture. We designed it, built it, and installed it at this beautiful office space. A 2x16 plank of antique pine stretches across this 9' opening to form the top of an electronic console. Those saw marks belong to a 48" circular saw. These beauties are plant stands. A single 11"x11" hand hewn timber is cut into 4 sections, each of which had their feet carved out and their tops flattened and polished. Jacobson Co...

Friday, January 20, 2012. A brand new design from Jacobson Construction. A side table made from recycled timbers, metal legs, and a glass top. These timbers I had left over from the renovation at my mother's house. The woodworking here is no great trick. It is held together with a single lap joint at the middle. Said joint is not even glued or fastened in any way. Just a dry fit. The legs are scavenged from a scrap heap. Overall a simple and pleasant table. Monday, January 9, 2012. A New Fishbone Table!

Wednesday, June 24, 2015. My wife and I moved into our home 5 years ago. We have tackled many renovation projects, but the bathroom just seemed to get pushed back and back and back. The old bathroom was quite cramped. The vanity was too large. It had a terrible dropped ceiling with fluorescent lights. And don't get me started on the wallpaper. We finally got to it and it turned out beautifully. This little gem we bought from our friends at Grace Brother's Antiques. A happy nook for the water closet:).

The new garage was designed as a compliment to it. Note how the brick stands out slightly from the stucco, creating a rebate. This feature was imitated on the new garage but without the use of brick. Friday, July 4, 2014. Ok New design here for some end tables. The idea that I had in my head was that the tops might emerge from the surface like a mushroom, and that the mushroom might be in high contrast. Hence the antique timbers are paired with the stainless steel/glass mushroom. The timbers came from Dankin. I had them leftover from a previous renovation. Feet were let out of the bottoms. The glass is sandwiched between two custom made stainless steel parts: a washer and a cap nut. Or a travel mug?

Monday, October 22, 2012. That seemed very fast. Here we are in October, so I thought I would post a summary of the work over the summer. It was a busy one. Check out some of the new outdoor spaces that our clients are enjoying. A beautiful deck with wrap-around steps. Also gained is a new dining area. Monday, October 6, 2014. A brand new cellar from Jacobson Construction. The racking and the door are made from walnut. As is the beautiful back-banded casing. A full light on the door invites you inside. This gorgeous tile is set with a 1/3 pattern and runs across the floor and straight up the wall, never breaking it's pattern.
