Thursday, December 3, 2009. 星期天，上了時常在關仔角納涼時見到的“賭輪”（賭博郵輪）見識見識。乘客人口統計：男的女的個占一半，80%以上年過五十，99.9%是華人。 吃了免費午餐，在賭臺上搏殺了一個多小時的輸輸贏贏又輸輸后，有點納悶，畢竟場內通風不是很好，就到甲板上吹風、拍照。甲板上兩對十幾來歲的小情侶，卿卿我我，摟摟抱抱，完全漠視他人的注視，六十塊上船觀賞真人鐵達尼號，真的值回票價。 在船上碰到了以前家樓下的老安迪，問她跟誰來？她說是自己駕車偷偷到碼頭上船的，而卻跟兒子媳婦說下坡底探朋友。賭船的魔力可不小，連老人都可以為了它欺瞞打妄語。另外一個Uncle，在連輸幾場后，口口聲聲說賭博真的是賭不過的而放棄了，但沒消幾分鐘，又看到他在另一桌繼續出錢出力，阿Q精神真的被黃炎子孫廣泛的使用。 原來，這里是另一處老人Happy的地方，不過要記得身上必須留下幾塊錢來搭Taxi回家。 Posted by Desmund Teh. The Last Kampong of Singapore 新加坡的最后一个村庄. 在沿途探索Kampong Buangkok -万国甘榜的正确地点也是几经折腾的。我们经由地铁转巴士，再步行按图索骏寻找这一片绿色森林中的甘榜。环顾四周也没看见脑海印象中甘榜图样，问了两个看似道地居民的人也向我们摇头甩手的，而出现在眼前的却是优雅高贵的洋房，还有几辆豪华轿车奔驰而过，我开始质疑我们是否朝着正确方向前进。 但我们没有放弃，顺着Gerald Drive 尽头望去，有个拐弯处，原来要在这转个弯，往更小的路走进去，万国甘榜就萎缩缱绻在繁华亮丽洋楼的背面，守着夕阳下的那一道余晖。 这个老甘榜已经超过60岁，是新加坡岛上最后一个甘榜了，现在只剩下10来户人家守着这最后一片乡土。旧甘榜或是新村，在马来西亚都很普遍，但在新加坡这个人口密集的城市国家，摩天大楼和高耸的组屋，叫环绕在一片铁林中空地内的万国甘榜的地位显得有些突兀和无所适从。 Posted by Desmund Teh. Monday, February 20, 2012. 过了这个星期，来到新加坡工作已经届时两年。生活在这一片即陌生又熟悉的土地上，给了我一些新的体验和感触。 之前一直秉于生于斯、长于斯的岛民心态，从来没有想过，或离开过自己的生活了三十多年的槟岛，到别的国家长期居住过。新加坡算是第一个我长期居住的国家。 在地理位置上，新加坡和马来西亚虽然很靠近，拥有相同的历史渊源，但是只从新马在1965年分家以后各自发展，地方文化已经有了差别。有机会在国外生活，我们也自然会把和自己国家的习惯、文化，来比较一番。 来到新加坡后，比我在马来西亚运动量增多了。我一天大概走三十分钟的路，是在在马来西亚走路的三倍还要多。因为放工后也没去什么地方，所以跑步或游泳成了很好的消遣活动。很多人喜欢跑步，常常在傍晚或着是夜晚都可以见到有人在跑步，因为就算在深里，觉得上也是很安全的。 走在街上，你可以看到不同国籍的人。印尼，泰国，菲力宾，中国，越南，香港，日本和韩国等等。最近看到报导，新加坡将近30% 是...Posted by Desmund Teh.
