elyse in the world: Those things that find you...
http://elyseintheworld.blogspot.com/2010/10/those-things-that-find-you.html
Elyse in the world. Those things that find you. Instead of the other way around. So much of life is spent looking and searching. for someTHING, someONE, some PLACE. That sometimes we forget to stop and thank the Lord for those things that find US. Those certain experiences, places, people, etc that find us and take us by surprise. Like Mustard Seed Church. In Ghana, one song in particular hit me hard and has stuck with me. Remember my post a few months back about the song, "God of This City? God followed...

Elyse in the world. Eating Soap and Oil Fires. Okay, so I've been thinking all day about the blog I was going to write when I got home tonight and now I have a real story to tell! I'll start with the scary one and end with the funny one. That's when I realized my thumb hurt pretty badly and was probably burned. Back in the kitchen I can't remember what happened but I started to feel bad that I had poured out all of Amanda's oil :-( Sorry Amanda! I could be in a Ghanaian hospital right now. BAH! That's ap...

Monday, April 16, 2012. April in the Jungle. Happy middle of April! I cannot believe how fast March came and went! I have been slacking on my blogging lately, but am going to do some marathon posts to catch up! In March, Emanuel Christian School had our week of Fiestas, celebrating our 12 year anniversary! God has blessed the school richly and I pray that He will continue to do so! Here are some pictures from the week! Parades and dances are a big deal here! Even some of the parents were involved! Soon-t...

http://justlookupward.blogspot.com/2012/06/last-month-in-macas.html
Sunday, June 3, 2012. Last Month in Macas. In case you haven't noticed, parades are a really big deal in Ecuador! We just finished a two week celebration for the city of Macas and had several parades, fairs, dances, fireworks, and late night singing and shows! It was lots of fun! Except for the shows that kept us up in our apartment until 3am! Emanuel School participated in several parades and did a wonderful job! They have brought so much joy and encouragement to us! Our High school students take exams ...

Looking Upward: Just One
http://justlookupward.blogspot.com/2012/06/just-one.html
Saturday, June 16, 2012. I just have one week left in Ecuador. I cannot believe it. I have been outside my comfort zone, and The Lord has blessed me. I would do it all again in a heartbeat if He asked me to, because He has changed my heart, for the much better. He has shown me what it is like to walk solely with Him, without having anyone or anything else of comfort to hang onto. Risky, but fully worth it. I read this in My Utmost for His Highest a few days ago and thought it so true and timely for me:.

Looking Upward: December 2011
http://justlookupward.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html
Sunday, December 11, 2011. Since December has arrived, I've been trying to listen to Christmas music, but I'm having a hard time adjusting to Christmas music in 85 degree weather! It just doesn't feel like Christmas! Never-the-less, we've been in full swing at school preparing for this special holiday and also getting ready for exams! We have two more days of school this week, and then exams begin on Wednesday! We transformed our Thanksgiving Tree into a Christmas Tree! Some of my 3rd grade students!

http://justlookupward.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html
Thursday, November 10, 2011. The very afternoon Dad and G'mama left to go back home, my roommates, Diana y Miryam, y yo hopped on a bus to go to Cuenca for our 3 day vacation from school! Cuenca is 7. hours. away. But we made it just fine! And compared to Macas, Cuenca is COLD! But nothing compared to a Mississippi winter! This are some pictures from the military parade that we watched the first morning we got there. Did I mention we rode the bus overnight, coming and going? Cuenca is a beauuuutiful city!

Looking Upward: May 2012
http://justlookupward.blogspot.com/2012_05_01_archive.html
Saturday, May 12, 2012. Just today, as I think over the multiple conversations my mom and I have had today on this Saturday, I am so humbled and thankful for her servant heart. She is in Mississippi, working as an accountant, wife, mom to brother Benton, and friend while at the same time being my biggest encourager all the way in Ecuador. She deserves a big bear hug and kiss, which I so long to give to her from across these country lines! This was when mom came to Ecuador - such a special time :). What a...
