Tuesday, 29 April 2014. While there've not been any blog posts for a while, the Annecy Gardeners have not been idle. Over the past few weeks we've been tidying up the beds after a winter break in our work sessions, we've also been sowing seeds and planting seedlings. We've also been spreading well-rotted manure on the beds, the manure a gift from kindly Cheltenham Borough Council. The dark areas on the beds are where we've been spreading well-rotted manure. Here's the intact one:. Just coming into flower.

Wednesday, 14 May 2014. Flowering brassicas and much, much more. The fields of oilseed rape around Gloucestershire are echoed with some of the flowers in the Annecy Gardens. Plants of the red curly kale, 'Redbor' are flowering now and the pale yellow flowers are very pretty:. Red curly kale 'Redbor'; you can also see potatoes emerging here and lettuce. Looking particularly striking at the moment is the variegated kale, 'Creme Chantilly', where the cream flowers tone in with the pale yellow leaf margins:.

Wednesday, 10 June 2015. Bring on the watering cans! At last it's time to plant out the tomatoes and courgettes. However, some of the ground is so hard and dry that it needs watering before any planting holes can be dug! Tomatoes need a lot of water after planting too. We bought new hazel rods this year to make the bean wigwams. Here's one we made earlier. The loganberry needs support. We have a fine show of californian poppies at the moment. They don't mind the dry conditions at all.

We had a visitor during our last session at the Annecy Garden, Mikel a photographer from The Gloucestershire Echo, the Cheltenham newspaper.
