I can see why someone would through hike twice. The 10 miles from Pearisburg back to woods hole where sooo wonderful because I knew what was coming on the trail. I took pictures at all the same views and insignificant bends that i was so pumped about in May. I put on the most southern accent I could muster and talked to the trail, “Well, hey they'a Virginia! Miles 249-261: 3’s company and Jay Camp. Tillotson shelter is four sided and can be completely boarded up - the windows and doors all shut to keep the wind and rain out. We took full advantage of this as it was stormy through the night. And am thankful they let me be their company. We hiked all the way to Jay pass summiting Buchanan, Domey’s Dome, and Gilpin. At Jay Pass and Vt. 242 we - of course - went into Montgomery Center for what I thought would be my last town stop! Posted 3 years ago.

Miles 208 to 223. Spruce peak, White Face, and Johnson. With reports of good weather, Artie, Joepa, and I hiked out from smugglers notch Sunday morning! They came up came up spruce peak with me for a farewell hike ad we solo around elephants head. It was nice having a skier as a guide. He knew every turn of the mountain. Even though it still rained on us! It was a nice morning. Artie, I can’t thank you enough for all of your hospitality! You were an incredible host and friend. Next up white face mountain!

I’ve made it back home to my family in Georgia. Our evening walks, porch dinners and unlocked doors have been sweet reminders of my southern roots. The time not traveling has been thus far productive. They all seemed to have the ‘work hard, play hard’ motto down pat. It was so much fun to get acquainted with Vermont this way.
