Exercise: Line drawing of the whole figure | Tiffany McLean
https://tiffanymclean.wordpress.com/2012/08/16/exercise-line-drawing-of-the-whole-figure
Research point – part 1 →. Exercise: Line drawing of the whole figure. August 16, 2012. Line drawing – Standing. For this exercise I had to draw a line drawing of the whole figure. I first did a pose of me standing up. I don’t think this turned out quite right, and I made a few mistakes on the arm by making it too slim. I’ve left the original pencil marks to the piece. I don’t think the top I was wearing helped as it was baggy below the bust. Line drawing – sitting. Line drawing – face. You are commentin...

Part 3, project 6, stage 4 – Final Sample | Klumsy lima

Part 3, project 6, stage 4 – Final Sample. Asymp; Leave a comment. The brief for this was to take one of the collages from stage 2 and develop it further. Sounds straight forward enough, right? Except that it was to be on a piece of calico and this alone…so no embellishements with other fabrics….not like another collage. I stared at it for a while and decided on stems made by tucking the fabric and gathers to give the idea of petals. Larr; Previous post. Next post →. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. History o...

Part 3, project 6, stage 4 – Reflection. Asymp; Leave a comment. How does working with fabric in this way compare with working directly with stitch? I have enjoyed the experimentation in this section and have learned a lot but didn’t get the same satisfaction from it as the first two parts of ACA. It might have something to do with confidence, I am used to using embroidery to create something beautiful. I am sure that I will be using many of these techniques again. What would you do differently? I think ...

Part 3, project 6, stage 4 – Moulding and Raised Shapes. Asymp; Leave a comment. Corduroy and cotton soaked with watered-down PVA then shaped. Drying on the windowsill! Buttons hand-sewn into cotton. I also added some wadding into one which gives it a softer edge and has a thicker, padded finish. Two layers of fabric with wadding used as a stuffing. Larr; Previous post. Next post →. Part 3, project 6, stage 4 – Combining Tyvek and Bondaweb methods. Asymp; 2 Comments. It suggests in the coursework to take a base fabric, cover with a layer of torn-up bits of bondaweb, cover that with yarn and bits, then another layer of torn-up bits of bondaweb…finally layer a piece or organza. Part 3, project 6, stage 4 – Dekoboko (lumps and bumps)! Asymp; Leave a comment. I have had this Pattern Magic book (NAKAMICHI, T. 2005. English ed. London: Laurence King publishing) for a while now and look at it every so often. One day I will make something from it! In the meantime, I have used it to make a ‘dekoboko’ paper pattern. There are instructions in the book to make a bodice with 3D shapes, as below:. I had a go at making the pattern with card. Cube shape on card with pattern lines drawn in.

Exercise: Tonal Study | Tiffany McLean
https://tiffanymclean.wordpress.com/2012/08/17/exercise-tonal-study
Experiments with self portrait →. August 17, 2012. I now had to do tonal studies. For this tonal study I use charcoal. I think some tones are a little and I should have pushed this harder. I used my eraser to draw in the light on my face. I think I’ve captured a good likeness of myself, even if I do look miserable. Permanent marker and white chalk. Charcoal and white chalk. Before I decide on a final piece I am going to do some brain storming and experiments for different self portrait ideas. Research po...
