Pretty Productive Little Garden: July 2009

Pretty Productive Little Garden. Tales from a suburban garden. Friday, 31 July 2009. Today I started to thin the carrots that are growing in a couple of large pots. I took out just enough for tonight's supper and will do the same over the next few days until the thinning is complete. It was quite exciting pulling them up. Even though the carrots were only small the smell was quite strong. I hope that it didn't reach the noses of any carrot flies! Thursday, 30 July 2009. J C Van Tol. Garlic has been somet...

Pretty Productive Little Garden: July 2010

Pretty Productive Little Garden. Tales from a suburban garden. Tuesday, 6 July 2010. The lavender hedge is at it's peak now and the bees are busy collecting nectar from it. The hedge is getting on a bit and I have started to take cuttings to replace it but it thrived on a hard prune in the spring. Nearby the scabious that I put in last year are coming into flower too. But at the moment they are glorious in their abundance and I could stand at look at the symphony of green for hours. Yoga with Anne Website.

Anne's Other Blog: July 2009

For everything except yoga, philosophy and gardening. Tuesday, 28 July 2009. Mark meanwhile spent the day working to clear scrub and brambles around another pond so that we can get in to clear weed from it. This pond has marginal and floating plants which are being swamped by Fairy Moss rather than duckweed. The weather forecast for this week was not promising but as Monday seemed to be one of the better days, at least early in the day, we decided to go back and get on with the second pond. I have to sa.

For everything except yoga, philosophy and gardening. Sunday, 28 June 2009. After a dramatic thunderstorm on Wednesday night Thursday was a beautiful day. After lunch I went for a walk through the park and around Baiter. I hadn't seen foxy for quite some time so it was lovely to see him enjoying the afternoon sun. And he had a companion! It was a real joy to watch them both. At the end of our walk we stopped off in the cemetery to pause a while at St Augustine's well. After a while we came to a wooded ar...

Tuesday, 6 July 2010. Website redevelopment progress report. Well, I have started to redevelop the Yoga with Mark website. Redevelopment is gonna take a while - I'm still on the home page! The problem is content rather than technical. Both Mark and I wanted a short summary of what our yoga is about for the home page but not being a wordsmith this is not proving easy. I thought that I would try what I have come up with here on you good folks first. Here it is:. Stopping the pushing and pulling. Vanda's bo...

Tuesday, 23 February 2010. The Philosopher and the Wolf. I have just finished reading The Philosopher and the Wolf: Lessons from the Wild on Love, Death and Happiness. By Philosophy Professor Mark Rowlands. I bought the book in the Borders closing down sale because it looked interesting and I wasn't disappointed. If you are interested in philosophy or if you are someone who prefers to run with the wolves than walk with the apes and wonders why then read this book. I heartily recommend it. For some reason...

http://yogawithanne.blogspot.com/2010/08/website-rewrites-latest-news.html
Friday, 6 August 2010. Website rewrites - latest news. Well I have now finished the rewrite of Mark's website. And implemented it. No major problems reported so far! It needs a few more photographs but otherwise we're quite pleased with it. Now that it's written in HTML I'm hoping that, subject to my learning the necessary technical skills, it should be easier to update and enhance than the previous incarnation which was created using Publisher. Have a look at Mark's website. Anne in downward dog. Subscr...

Wednesday, 25 August 2010. Refurbished website now live. The latest incarnation of the Yoga with Anne website. Is now live. Although it needs a bit of tinkering (more photos and a bit more colour) it is more or less as I want it. I am particularly pleased with the drop down menus (I must get out more! I hope that it is easy for you to navigate around and find the information you need. If you have any difficulties or have suggestions as to how it could be improved then please let me know. That I am going ...
