I came to poetry late,. While rearing my five children and going back to school. Since I taught a full load of writing classes at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, while getting my degrees, I wrote with my students. By giving readings, I found my audience. Since then I have published widely and continue to give readings at the drop of a hat (I wear hats while I read—I'm such a ham). Our second book, Journey to the Centre. Is now in print. The Gwendolyn Brooks Poetry Award, 1999. Canoe Press, 1992.

Annie's Notes/ Les Notes d'Annie. Happiness is a warm pair of needles. The basket is overflowing with projects. It is getting colder outside and my new socks are finally ready. This is the first time I knit two socks at once and it is the second pair EVER I knit for myself (and I have knitted quite a few pairs.). And yes I started knitting Christmas presents. Annie has been adopted! A wonderful 11 year old big Boston Terrier girl found her forever home! Monday, May 10, 2010. Holy cow, it's been almost a year! That's the "beautiful" me feeding a piece of cake to my "handsome" husband. On the back ground is my niece who is also beautiful.
