Ann's Autism Blog

Saturday, 15 August 2015. On making it impossible for us to do a task, then blaming us. Over the decades, as an autistic adult, I've had some unusual experiences with non-autistic leaders. Many good experiences, with many good leaders, of course. But goodness me, there's been some very odd thinking, from a few. I was Trustee of two major charities. One, for many years. I was Governor of a large Primary School for many years. I've worked as an autism adviser for some 20 years, doing consultancy work and t...

Ann's Autism Blog: December 2014

http://www.annsautism.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html

Monday, 22 December 2014. Autism - high versus low? Extraordinary ideas happened before we understood more about autism. One of the biggest ideas was that we could all fit into two neat sorts of autism; high functioning, and low functioning. Depending on whether we could say some sentences and pass a standard IQ test, more or less. We then had Autism Wars, with some parents clamouring to tell us that their child was Low Functioning and therefore nothing like autistic adults who can talk. We know that aut...

Ann's Autism Blog: May 2015

http://www.annsautism.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html

Thursday, 14 May 2015. Another morning where the media reports people saying things like, "You must be autistic - you have no feelings and no empathy". This is such a damaging myth. Yup Your friend cannot see you. They cannot see that you are upset. If someone comes up to me and says, "Ann, I am so sad because." then I know they are sad. And then I feel dreadful for them and want to be there for them. I have to be told how they are feeling, because I cannot see their face properly or hear the...Working w...

The Long Tall Story. Posted by annscreative@gmail.com. The colours of Autumn. Posted by annscreative@gmail.com. Autumn is now here and the shops are emphasising the rich deep tones of claret to warm madder and red. These colours are seen in handbags from the luxury brands through to high street stores – mainly because red is a great colour and sells well. But what makes this season diferent is that they are promoting more than one shade, showing real confidence with this colour range . The style of Italy.

Ann's Australian Adventure

Friday, December 14, 2012. After Rotorua we headed further south to Napier. On the way we stopped at Lake Taupo. It’s hard to pick out but Mt. Doom from Lord of the Rings ins in the background. Heading southeast to Napier we drove through some beautiful farm land. Here’s just one picture. Get to see the cool buildings we also got to see these neat cars with the drivers dressed in 1920-30 attire. It was cool. Here’s a few pictures. They actually had Christmas decorations! The next town south of Napier is ...
