Brahmas are gentle giants of the poultry world with heavily feathered legs and feet. They Originate from India, being called Brahma-Pootras after the dividing river between China and India. They are very easily tamed birds being so friendly as to love being handled, they make excellent broodys but are inclined to be clumsy with their eggs due to their large size.

Orpingtons were developed here in the UK in the town of Orpington in Kent during the 1880s by William Cook. In those times poultry were reared mainly as table birds or egg laying birds, not the show specimens that the traditional breeds are today.
