Little Happy Men: October 2011
http://littlehappyman.blogspot.com/2011_10_01_archive.html
Monday, October 31, 2011. Sept 18: Our New Tree and Morning in Longmont. The tree nursery is in a beautiful location, on country road through the high prairie, lined with farmland, segmented by meandering creeks and their accompanying cottonwoods, with views of snow-capped peaks just to the west. The boys had fun running in all that space and sunshine. They also had fun throwing rocks. There is our pretty little tree, a dwarf Corkbark Blue Fir. Links to this post. Isaac is now a pre-K student - known at ...

Little Happy Men: July 2011

Wednesday, July 20, 2011. July 3: Waterfall Hike. We took the boys to Molly's Ranch, one of SAHC's properties, in October. It's a beautiful mix of woods, meadows and a series of rushing waterfalls and crystal-clear swimming holes along a cold mountain stream. The boys got soaked then, in the cool fall weather, so we wanted to take them back in bathing suits and summer warmth so they could swim more comfortably. Then we were at a beautiful waterfall and a clear swimming hole full of rocks. I walked with I...

Friday, December 30, 2011. Nov 9: Four Crazy Boys at our House. Then Jonah and Adler ended up on the slide together. They looked happy sharing the space at first, but then Jonah looked increasingly frustrated and Adler increasingly mischievous. They look like siblings! Links to this post. Thursday, December 29, 2011. Teacher Anne dressed as Mrs. Wishy-Washy, a favorite storybook character of the kids. Benjy was an astronaut. Louis, one of Isaac's most frequent playmates, was a black widow. We met up with...

Little Happy Men: April 2011
http://littlehappyman.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html
Tuesday, April 12, 2011. Life with Two Sweet Boys: March. MAR 8: After dinner, Jonah said: "'side.". Me: "You want to go outside? It was dark and not warm.). And he started walking to the front door to try to open it. Tonight we asked the boys if they wanted to take a bath. Jonah turned and walked straight to the stairs. The gate was up, so he called to us: "Ba! Bath) Then we heard "Ba.NOW! In his authoritative voice. Because that is what big cats say. He threw the puzzle piece at me! When Jonah gets mad...

Little Happy Men: September 2011

Sunday, September 11, 2011. Aug 30: Children's Garden. We met some friends at the Denver Botanic Gardens on a hot day at the end of August. They have a children's garden that opened about a year ago, and we hadn't seen it yet. The boys went straight for the water and stayed there until it was time to go, except when I made Jonah get out because he kept throwing sand at other kids. So he explored the tunnel for a while - a big one made of a hollow tree trunk. Links to this post. Friday, September 9, 2011.

Little Happy Men: May 2011
http://littlehappyman.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html
Wednesday, May 25, 2011. Adam had one more trip this month, this time doing research for a case in southern Colorado. He was gone for 4 days, and it rained for 3 days straight. And I mean, it poured rain. Smokey was having a fit at this point; we found out later that there had been a funnel cloud just a few miles north of us. But at our house, there was just gentle rumbling thunder, flashes of lightning and a long downpour, followed by a steady, hard rain. Links to this post. Monday, May 23, 2011. One of...

Little Happy Men: August 2011

Monday, August 29, 2011. Aug 19: Morning Outing to a Glacier! One of our playgroup friends organized a toddler and preschooler hike to St. Mary's Glacier recently. I was amazed to discover that it was exactly one hour door-to-trail for us to reach a 3/4 mile path to a glacier. Subalpine forest.and the path opening up as we neared the lake. Suddenly, we reached the top, and there was a lake and the glacier. After lunch, we managed to get all the kids in one place to take a group picture. Only Josie wa...

Little Happy Men: April 2012
http://littlehappyman.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html
Monday, April 16, 2012. This was the first year Isaac knew enough about the Easter Bunny to be excited. We'd talked about church and why we celebrate Easter, but this is what Isaac was thinking about: CANDY. The boys woke up early, and they quickly found their baskets - filled with books, airplane hooks for hanging up their coats and backpacks, bath toys, a few other small toys, and yes, candy. But not too much. When we walked to our car after church, the sun was warm and the day beautiful. It seemed tha...

Little Happy Men: May 19-20: Taylor's UVA Graduation
http://littlehappyman.blogspot.com/2012/11/may-19-20-taylors-uva-graduation.html
Tuesday, November 6, 2012. May 19-20: Taylor's UVA Graduation. This trip was a big deal for our family, because it was the first time we'd split up the boys. Jonah and I flew across the country to Virginia to celebrate Taylor's college graduation, while Adam and Isaac had a weekend on their own back home. I think it was special time for all of us. Jonah and Pete have a strong bond now, and they were so excited to see each other again. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). We Gotta Get Out While We're Young.
