At the museum in St. Louis. Lights at the Wazoo. Tales of a veghead. Installment Three - The Body - The Church. Installment Two - The Body - The Church. Friday, April 15, 2011. Installment Three - The Body - The Church. This is the third, and final installment of my anthology about my injured hand and The Church. We are the Body of Christ and we need to function as a whole, but when one part suffers, the rest of the body needs to adjust, and pitch in, and continue to function as a whole. Now, however, as...

At the museum in St. Louis. Lights at the Wazoo. Tales of a veghead. Waiting A Long Time. Saturday, September 17, 2011. Waiting A Long Time. 8220;There was a man who had two sons. The younger one said to his father, ‘Father, give me my share of the estate.’ So he divided his property between them. 8220;When he came to his senses, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have food to spare, and here I am starving to death! 8220;But the father said to his servants, ‘Quick! 8220;Meanwhile, the older...

At the museum in St. Louis. Lights at the Wazoo. Tales of a veghead. Our God is TOO Small. Friday, September 7, 2012. Our God is TOO Small. Would worry about losing it! What brains are out there to figure out, develop, devise, etc. all these devices! Think how far we have come when it comes to data storage, data accessibility, thought sharing, picture sharing, experience sharing in OUR liftetime. And what is ahead? We can’t even imagine, well, we have some ideas but it almost blows our minds!

At the museum in St. Louis. Lights at the Wazoo. Tales of a veghead. Saying the Right Thing. Tuesday, June 14, 2011. Saying the Right Thing. We recently attended the funeral service of a dear friend. She was 92 and as her son reminded us, she was not there, but in Jesus’ presence. Lurene was loved by many people and the church was packed. Her son’s eulogy was a joy-filled remembrance of his mother who had more spiritual impact on his life than, as he said, everyone else combined. As her son closed his eu...

At the museum in St. Louis. Lights at the Wazoo. Tales of a veghead. Im a Little Pinch Pot. Thursday, November 17, 2011. I'm a Little Pinch Pot. Recently a friend of mine, who is an artist, gave me a little pottery pinch pot she had made. It was supposed to be a votive candle holder, but somehow in the firing, or something, it is not quite large enough to hold a votive. I love my little pinch pot – because my friend made it and it will ever remind me of her. Isaiah uses this imagery for our lives as well...

At the museum in St. Louis. Lights at the Wazoo. Tales of a veghead. Roni, I Need You. Monday, November 26, 2012. Roni, I Need You. She may be only one minute older, the result of being born via C-section, but Veronica is clearly the OLDER sister, at least in her eyes. And, so far, Colin doesn’t seem to mind (most of the time) as she bosses him around, summons him to do her bidding, and scolds him when she thinks he is misbehaving. Much of the time they play quite happily in their own area of the room.

At the museum in St. Louis. Lights at the Wazoo. Tales of a veghead. He Hears Our Voice. Wednesday, April 11, 2012. He Hears Our Voice. One of the men in our Tuesday Bible study wonders constantly how God can hear our individual prayers when so many of us are praying at the same time. It doesn’t seem to matter how many times I remind him that God is GOD and not human and He can hear each of us no matter what the circumstances. On our second and final day of our trip, we were ready to go to the museum.

At the museum in St. Louis. Lights at the Wazoo. Tales of a veghead. Praying the Lords Prayer. Monday, October 31, 2011. Praying the Lord's Prayer. Recently a friend asked me to pray for them. I agreed, but later was not sure what to ask God for on their behalf. I did not think that what they had asked me to pray for was in keeping with God’s teaching for our lives. So I asked God to do what He already knows is best for them and left my prayer there. I begin by acknowledging who God is – my Father,...

At the museum in St. Louis. Lights at the Wazoo. Tales of a veghead. Love Your Neighbor as Yourself. Tuesday, August 16, 2011. Love Your Neighbor as Yourself. This morning Bill and I were talking about politics and some what-ifs in light of all that is happening in both our country and our state at the moment. Many folks in the United States like to call us a Christian Nation but I see very few living out this ever so simple, but ever so complex commandment of Christ’s. If, and I emphasize if. But back t...
