Antarcticarla - Deel 2. ANTARCTICA, de droom. Deze morgen weer naar een uiteenzetting maar deze keer is het ‘mandatory’. Ik ben nog ver van goed maar sleep mij er naar toe want het gaat over de veiligheidsvoorschriften met de zodiac en hoe in- en uitstappen. Het schip ligt stil en ik voel me wat beter. Onze eerste cruise is naar de Melchior Eilanden. Het zullen wel de meest gefotografeerde beestjes. Zijn in de omtrek want iedereen is wild enthousiast. Met zijn eerste pinguïn. Lieve is ook goed ingepakt.

Antarcticarla - Deel 3. Zaterdag 22 oktober 2011. Donderdag 14/01/2010 - ZEE. De aangekondigde storm is er echt gekomen. Deze nacht vloog alles in het rond en dat was nog voor wij de Drake Passage bereikten. Het snellere vertrek vanuit Antarctica heeft waarschijnlijk niet veel geholpen. Volgens een stafmedewerker was het tussen 5 en 6 Beaufort. Het is de eerste keer dat ik in mijn bed bij elke beweging van het schip verschuif. Naar boven in mijn bed en dan terug naar het voeteneinde, uren aan een stuk.
