Sunday, January 28, 2007. I was picked to go on a Sunday morning cruise on the Coast Guard ice breaker, Polar Sea. Poor Nik signed me up for the lottery for this special event, but he was not selected to go. It was a great trip! Posted by kawelch @ 8:22 PM. Saturday, January 20, 2007. Posted by kawelch @ 8:13 PM. kawelch in Antarctica: December 2007

Thursday, December 27, 2007. The antenna made some interesting sounds, but the dome itself sounded like a drum. Each panel in the dome is made of a flexible material and as the wind blew, it sounded like a percussion instrument. I would like to go back when it is very windy to get the full experience of the drumming sounds. Posted by kawelch @ 12:40 PM. Wednesday, December 26, 2007. Posted by kawelch @ 10:33 PM. Adventures of an environmental geochemist. Thursday, January 08, 2009. Hobbies other than science? The snow blazes down and fizzles out on our Ohio pavement and fieldwork feels distant. During this season, my poor schnauzer is skittish on the ice and our walks grow shorter. As gray blankets us, I miss the aesthetic aspects of being in the field. And when not working, I find myself reading dark literature until I get into a funk and become one with my couch. Tuesday, January 06, 2009.

Adventures of an environmental geochemist. Wednesday, April 22, 2009. The microbial underworld, undergraduates, and exciting implications. It has been a while since I've blogged. I've been sciencing away. Also, Carla and Michael, the two undergrads working with me, have been working up their data on agricultural land alkalinity and tropical glacier silicate weathering, respectively for posters coming up this week and in May! Today is my lucky day :). Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
