Caricature Whittlings: Ready...Set...Action!!
http://anthonyfiletti.blogspot.com/2014/11/readysetaction.html
Sunday, November 23, 2014. Instilling motion into our carvings is one way of creating greater interest. Motion as shown in the post does not have to be dramatic but rather it must be realistic in nature. The carving at left demonstrates the subtle line of action and the resulting pose of the carving. While many instructors teach this method a great reference for this that is used by many carvers is the book. Or is it static and straight forward? It is difficult to break away from static carvings and carv...

Saturday, March 7, 2015. Tom Wolfe Whittling Competition - Day 1. Well, the 2015 Charlotte Woodcarvers show has come and gone however its impact remains. Folks, this crew knows how to throw a show and has an outstanding membership in support. I have been going to their show for around 8 years and two venues. While this competition covers the majority of carving categories it is one of the best for Caricature Carvers given the talent it draws. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile.

Saturday, May 3, 2014. A sense of community in Western NY. John Petkovsky doing it right. Me and my cohorts decided to take a quick trip to the Buffalo area and visit our neighboring clubs carving show. The yearly spring show held by the Southtowns Woodcarvers at the Elma Senior Center and is just one of the ways this club contributes to the carving hobby. The members set up tables to display their carving prowess and just enjoy the sense of community carving shows provide. So what can you do? All data a...

Should be fun to carve and they will be all types of different subjects as you will see in the picture. All I need to sign them up is the following;.

Wednesday, March 26, 2014. A better ambassador.not likely. Something not seen very often.a full figure from one the best.Pete LeClair. This figure was on display by Pete at this years Charlotte Woodcarvers show. While the piece seems simple it is very well executed and the there is a lot we can learn from top to bottom. Thanks Pete for all you do, we appreciate it! Now why aren't you carving something? Saturday, March 1, 2014. A moment of pride. All-in-all it was a good experience for him and a little re...

http://edsscrollsawbits.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html
Ed's Scrollsaw and Carving bits. Scroll sawing and woodcarving are just two types of woodwork that have intrigued me from a very early age. This blog is to share that interest with others. Sunday, June 13, 2010. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Again, I'm not an artist, but I do like to create things with my own hands and, so far, most of those things have turned out to recognize what I wanted them to. Here, I will share what I have made and also woodcraft from other sources that I find of great interest.

Carvin' Tom's Woodcarving Blog: The Blacksmith
https://carvintom.blogspot.com/2014/07/the-blacksmith.html
Carvin' Tom's Woodcarving Blog. Monday, July 21, 2014. I have a woodcarving blog called Carvin’ Tom’s. Maybe you’ve heard of it? It has been so. Long since I posted anything that I half expect that it will be months before “my regulars” even notice that there has been a new posting. I’m sorry about that, but life sometimes kind of gets in the way and some things have to slip. Quench Bucket and Coal Bag. I turned the quenching bucket on the lathe and used a wood burning tool to define the individual staves.

Carvin' Tom's Woodcarving Blog. Tuesday, November 4, 2014. The Passing of one of the “Good Guys”. Tommy (on the right) and Ray (on the left). I was greatly saddened to hear this morning that we have lost a really, good guy. Well…at least someone who could greatly improve the mood a cloudy Saturday morning with his wit and antics. This morning, “…was really more about two brothers who loved life and each other.” My wife, who is not a car buff by any. When I was first got into wood carving, I did a number ...

Carvin' Tom's Woodcarving Blog. Friday, September 20, 2013. The Carving of a Full size Replica of an 1861 Remington Cap and Ball Revolver – Part 3. I wasn't all that pleased with the color and texture of the metal parts of the 1884 Springfield Trapdoor Rifle that I had carved about 5 years ago (see below). I vowed that this time my results would be much better. Close up of Trapdoor Rifle Replica. Note the flat “cast iron” look of the Lock and Hammer. The acrylic paint that I used on the rifle looked "OK".

Carvin' Tom's Woodcarving Blog. Wednesday, October 8, 2014. Yet Another Warther Museum. Way back in 2010, I visited and the blogged about my visit to TheWarther Museum. In Dover, Ohio. If you haven’t seen it, it is a place that all. Woodcarvers should visit at least. Carvin' Tom's Woodcarving Blog. Sunday, March 23, 2014. I guess I have pretty much beaten the “Dust Collector Horse” to death, I’ll move on to other topics now. Another significant problem with the old shop was that all. Of my tool, equipment and wood storage was on “open shelves” (Definition: unenclosed areas exposed to the air where dust and miscellaneous crud continuously accumulate over time resulting a generally unappealingly cluttered mess! And the belt/disk sander. High on the wall, a re-purposed ...

Saturday, May 2, 2015. Case Polishing cloth, DMT Diamond Sharpener, Strop, Denny. Knife, and DMT diamond sharpening card. For Caricature carving I do not recommend in any shape or form razor blade cutters as they are not reliable. And their use often leads to choppy carvings and increased risk of injury. Now I am not an expert sharpener by any means, however I do get the desired result.a ". Knife What that means is that my knife is not only extremely sharp it is also polished.
