Thursday, January 26, 2012. As I start to write a new novel, I ask myself: Who. Is at the center of my novel? Is he/she a protagonist, or a hero? In The Fire In Fiction by Donald Maass. Says: "Every protagonist can be a hero, even from the opening pages. That quality is essential. If readers are to tag along with your main character for hundreds of pages.". That sounds good, but I wondered how. Do you find your protagonist's strength? It depends on how you created him/her! Any tips you wish to share?

Friday, December 23, 2011. This week I saw my spine surgeon for my two week follow-up. I’m happy to report that my cervical fusion is doing well! He cleared me to drive, but I can only do so with the help of pain medication. I made the mistake of driving to my pain specialist before taking them and had a difficult time turning my head while driving and was so relieved to make my round trip safely.
