At one month in we have seen 27 turtles with 40 nests! 5 girls are new to the nesting population and surprisingly, we have already seen 2 nests hatch - which means nesting activity started in late April! A very Happy New Year to you all from the longest, continuously running hawksbill turtle research project in the world! We are entering the year of the 25th anniversary of hawksbill saturation tagging on Jumby Bay. We have come a long way, lets hope the next 25 years teach us a lot more. The JUMBY BAY Hawksbill Project. Stories from the beach . and beyond! Wednesday, 27 October 2010. 3 weeks to go! Nest hatches on the other hand are starting to peak at 2 to 3 hatches a night. Even so, we miss most of them as it can take just 5 minutes for over 100 hatchlings to make it to the sea. We are left with only their tiny tracks printed along the sand as evidence.
