After work adventure and new bits of Anglesey. Johnsunter.comJohnsunter.com. After work adventure and new bits of Anglesey. Still mad busy, updating about recent trips to Albania and Devon, but for now, some more recent adventures, close to home. There’s something pretty exciting about walking out of the office on Friday after work, wearing your outdoor gear and carrying a rucksack on your back, knowing your off in search of adventure, that very evening. Afterwards I wonder around, and see some of the qu...

Uncategorised Johnsunter.comJohnsunter.com. Its fully up to date! Celebrating the completed update of johnsunter.com the blog I’ve run since 2001. In 2001, I’d moved to Chester and started working at a firm of accountants called Morris and Co. While chatting to a new colleague, I commented that although I had a website, I’d love to own www.johnsunter.com. John Lyons. Without his help, johnsunter.com would never have started. Me and Mum. Happy times. And that’s when I got the idea…. It would provide a sor...

Birthday in Chester Johnsunter.comJohnsunter.com. Thanks to everyone who came to my birthday yesterday in Chester. Nice to be back in the Firkin/Frog and Nightingale/Lock keeper again, shame we had to wait so long to be served (I thought Tony and Lorrain showed real discipline by not jumping behind the bar and getting things moving :). Its nearly a year since I left Phonak, but so nice to see so many old friends from there. Leave a Comment Cancel reply. Your email address will not be published. A compute...

2 holidays and BHW Johnsunter.comJohnsunter.com. 2 holidays and BHW. This month I’ve been away on 2 overseas trips and had a fab bank holiday weekend. I won’t go into the overseas trips in many details, as I’m going to write them up under the travel section. First off, a quick thanks. Although I get to do loads of adventure things, it wouldn’t be possible without the help of other people, who keep things ticking over while I’m away. The month began with a trip to Macedonia. The capital is overlook by a m...

Albania Johnsunter.comJohnsunter.com. Me at Gjirokaster castle. I’ve always been a fan of the former Eastern Block, and I’ve made extensive trips there. In recent times, I’ve visited a lot of the former Yugoslavia. I’d heard some dark things about it, but I’m not one to be put off by rumours. The attractiveness of the place is that its brand new. Like Macedonia. Up early, shower and breakfast, then were on the plane. A few episodes of Game of thrones and a few chapters of Wilbur Smith’s Desert God ...

Europe Johnsunter.comJohnsunter.com. It was Christmas time again, and I’d decided that Cyprus looked like an ace destination. I’d been to Cyprus earlier that year with Dan and Glenn. With the pressure on at work, I hadn’t properly planned the trip properly. We’d gone for 2 and a half days, it takes 4 hours to fly there. I worked out the UK/Cyprus time wrong so got everyone off too the beach at 5am, the list goes on. This time I was a bit more organised. We briefly visit St Lazarus church. We reach an are...

Bishops castle Johnsunter.comJohnsunter.com. Pressure is on at work, but instead of vegging out at the weekend, I’m determined to make the most of them and get out and about. On Friday evening, I had a barbecue at my house. A slightly unusual affair as I couldn’t get the Barbecue to light, and ended up cooking the food under the Grill. Thanks though to Glenn and Dave E for bringing burgers and Tandoori Chicken. Overall, a brill evening, thanks to everyone who came. We opted for the bunk house (at 10 per ...

Solo projects Johnsunter.comJohnsunter.com. Date for your diary: Sat 23rd of May, My birthday “outing” in Chester. Reading the financial managers report for my pension the other day, it listed potential global risks. A shrinking Chinese economy, tension in Ukraine and a fall in worldwide oil prices were listed. But that’s not the real problem. There is a sickness in the people of Britain today, something that cuts through every culture, religion and social class. I’m talking of course, about Ski-ing.
