And Mehta has watched this religious fundamentalism grow in his city&#...

It is a particularly popular holiday at two major US public universities (as noted in this article in the NY Times. University of Colorado at Boulder. I encourage...

Fosco Lives!: Did You Know?
http://foscolives.blogspot.com/2006/07/did-you-know_20.html
Thursday, July 20, 2006. They worship a god named Mormo. A female Mormon is called a "Mormoness.". You can read the Mormon scriptures only with a set of X-Ray Specs. These can be ordered from the back page of many comic books. They wear Holy Underwear or, in the case of Mormonesses, Holy Lingerie. From the pen of FOSCO. As a mormon, you have offended me. But you're right about the underwear. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Fosco commentary on the Icelandic financial crisis. Fosco's Pictures of 2008.

Fosco Lives!: Sunday in Venusburg
http://foscolives.blogspot.com/2009/04/sunday-in-venusburg.html
Sunday, April 26, 2009. Fosco has been listening to Wagner's opera Tannhäuser. This week. The music is absolutely ravishing (Don't believe me? Get a hold of the Overture- an easy download from anywhere.), but I had never really paid attention to the plot before this week. Guess what? The plot is stupid. Even so, the opera's a pretty thrilling listen. Another thing I never knew about Tannhäuser. The overture is referenced in the title of an almost-equally ravishing Cézanne painting. From the pen of FOSCO.

Fosco Lives!: The Iceland Saga, Part One
http://foscolives.blogspot.com/2009/03/iceland-saga-part-one.html
Wednesday, March 11, 2009. The Iceland Saga, Part One. The first part of a two-part post on the Icelandic economic crisis. Fosco has mentioned before. Iceland immoderately. He and his college roommate lboom went to Iceland twice in the late 1990s and fell in love with the place. So much so that Fosco has fantasies about living the rest of his life in coolest city in the world, Reykjavík. That way, he could spend at least one day a week submerged in the coolest spa in the world: the Bláa lónið. In some wa...

Fosco Lives!: "I'm thankful for Don Cherry, eh?"
http://foscolives.blogspot.com/2006/10/im-thankful-for-don-cherry-eh.html
Sunday, October 08, 2006. I'm thankful for Don Cherry, eh? Fosco loves Canada and he's not ashamed to admit it. Five years ago, he and his good buddy Liz went to a conference in Toronto and fell in love with the country: so friendly, so progressive, so calm. Canadians just don't seem to get worked-up over things that Americans do (homosexuals, evolution, etc.) We made a pact then that we would try to get jobs in Canada, a pact on which Liz has made good. Once and things ended very. You think she's fetchi...
