Indiana's Current Speed Enforcement Policies. Indiana currently uses a points system for drivers (see the BMV homepage. Every driver starts off with zero points, and every offense they commit is added a certain value of points. My Proposal - Speeding

The majority of people who speed everyday go unpunished simply because the police cannot be everywhere at once to enforce speed limits. My proposal is to increase Indiana's punishment for speeding so that drivers will be more reluctant to break the speed limit and pay the consequences. The value of points AND the speeding fine will be DOUBLED! So the new violations will look like this:. 1 – 15mph over the speed limit: 4 point violation. 16 – 16 mph over the speed limit: 8 point violation.
