Amber & Red. Amber and Red Ale. Technically, Amber Ales and Red Ales belong under the Pale Ale roof, since they follow the same fermentation process. The only difference is that crystal malt is added to Amber Ales during brewing, producing its slightly darker, amber to light brown color.
