A Planner Abroad!

On my way to the Congo! Friday, October 10, 2008. Now that I've been back for over a week, I'm struck by some of the lessons that I learned in my time in Africa. I wasn't there very long but there are some things that are sticking in my head. 1 Learn a language by immersing yourself in a foriegn culture AT HOME. 2 Water is precious. I thought about that this week. I passed a broken sprinkler as I was walking home and saw all this water gushing out of the break. And it's all drinkable! When I went, I real...

A Planner Abroad!: Malaria, Misquitos, and Vitamin B

http://aplannerabroad.blogspot.com/2008/09/malaria-misquitos-and-vitamin-b.html

On my way to the Congo! Tuesday, September 30, 2008. Malaria, Misquitos, and Vitamin B. I have no bites. None. And it's not because I used my misquito net, because I didn't. I attribute this success to my B Vitamins. I took B-1 and B-12 everyday. I will definitely do that again for other misquito-prone areas. Last week, Cammie was sick and thought that it was probably Malaria. She doesn't take Malaria meds, just takes a 3-day cure whenever she gets Malaria. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

The trip cost $3,200. EMI recieved $3,281 on my behalf! The extra $81 will go towards paying for the general administrative costs of the trip. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). http://aplannerabroad.blogspot.com/2008/10/architect-vs-engineer.html

On my way to the Congo! Wednesday, October 1, 2008. Architect vs. Engineer. We had some great times working with all the different disciplines. At one point in the week, Austin said, "It's amazing to be able to work so closely with the engineers. Usually my only interaction with them is when I send them a building plan and they send it back with a column right through my bathroom.". Tom said, "What would you think about having a column in the middle of the classroom? Engineer: You want answers? I’d...

Tribal Life With The Aquino Clan: Cigarettes and Gluten?

http://aquinoclan.blogspot.com/2009/02/cigarettes-and-gluten.html

Tribal Life With The Aquino Clan. Thursday, February 05, 2009. Silas has sure been a case in point. I had him tested for the celiac anti body because of a prolonged tummy ache, 1 ½ months. Noticed it was after toast and sandwiches. Now, when he has a reaction……WHOA! For all. Last Friday night’s episode was like watching someone in the transition stage of childbirth, seriously intense, and nothing I could do to help but be there. 40 out of 100 are gluten sensitive. WHAT! Gluten is in so many places, goes ...

Tribal Life With The Aquino Clan. Monday, November 02, 2009. My friend Amy was sharing about Jesus and his eternal perspective, how that was at the forefront of his speech and mind, and yet, for our benefit, because we are so limited and need to see help now where we are at, he blesses us, heals us, restores us. Still for the purpose of our eternal salvation, and for that of those around us. Thank y. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. Gluten and Your Health. Heather Eats Almond Butter.

Tribal Life With The Aquino Clan. Sunday, June 21, 2009. Better Than A Thousand Words. Mesquite Flour/Meal made from the pods of the mesquite tree. Below is the muffin experiment. Cutting tapioca, adding mesquite. Pudding like texture in the middle. Never quite cooked, but with almond extract, my kids thought it was a repeat! Dark almost chocolate taste. Tribal Life With The Aquino Clan: Modified Elimination Diet

http://aquinoclan.blogspot.com/2009/07/modified-elimination-diet.html

Tribal Life With The Aquino Clan. Monday, July 06, 2009. What is this Modified Elimination Diet referred to you ask? Similar to other allergy elimination diets it adds gluten. There may be more differences than that, but I haven't done the standard one. Will advise if I try it. When I went gluten free, the only spice I used overused was garlic. Having read that many spices contain gluten and aren't labeled. Means we can eat it):. Chicken, Turkey, Lamb, fish, unprocessed cold cuts/sausage,. Cold pressed u...

Tribal Life With The Aquino Clan: Utimate Barter

http://aquinoclan.blogspot.com/2009/09/utimate-barter.html

Tribal Life With The Aquino Clan. Sunday, September 27, 2009. The idea of having chickens who lay eggs every day is so appealing to me. We've had a garden overflowing with abundance this summer and gave away delicious, pesticide free food. The kids wanted to sell it. We had so much at times we could have been a vendor at the farmers market! Selling things is not my strong suit. Not motivated to ask people for their money. I'd rather give it away. Do I think it's worth good money, sure! God is so good!

Tribal Life With The Aquino Clan. Sunday, November 23, 2008. Satan has come to kill, steal and destroy. But Christ came that we might have life abundantly. I choose the life abundantly myself. Generational destruction has been visited on me and my child. Silas has tested positive for antibodies which may mean he has celiac. 1 Salvation for my sons.
