Training in Appalachia

I define training very loosely. Basically, I like to ride my bike. Sometimes I ride hard, sometimes I ride easy. Sometimes I ride long. Sometimes I ride short. I don't track mph, cadence, heart rate, watts, etc. I track fun. I ride in the rolling rural hills of Western West Virginia, Southern Ohio, and Eastern Kentucky. I have great riding buddies. We have a good time...

Training in Appalachia: Peeps vs. Circus Peanuts

http://appalachiancycling.blogspot.com/2008/03/peeps-vs-circus-peanuts.html

Tuesday, March 25, 2008. Peeps vs. Circus Peanuts. I would like to respond to a question on my last post about Peeps and peanut-shaped candy. Peeps are basically marshmallows covered in colored sugar. Don't be deceived by the wide array of colors they are available in. They all taste basically the same- like plain sugar. There are exceptions however, as a limited number of Peeps- in their quest for all-holiday dominance- are available in flavors such as peppermint (. Cookie Flavored Cut Outs.

Training in Appalachia: Training in a Bottle

http://appalachiancycling.blogspot.com/2008/03/training-in-bottle.html

Sunday, March 30, 2008. Training in a Bottle. Special thanks to CK for this season's training program- I am feeling fit already! You weren't supposed to tell EVERYONE! Don't put that stuff on before hot tubbing.makes the bubbles brown.eewww. March 31, 2008 at 7:36 AM. And, remember to wash your hands right away after applying (especially in the webbing of your fingers) otherwise, the result is pretty scary. March 31, 2008 at 9:31 AM. Don't worry, we don't have hot tubs in Appalachia. Training in a Bottle.

Training in Appalachia: Happy Easter!

http://appalachiancycling.blogspot.com/2008/03/happy-easter.html

Sunday, March 23, 2008. I rode my bike for Easter. The photo- that's not me- that's a Peep. Sugar and marshmallow goodness. My all time favorite Easter treat! Peeps are not just limited to Easter, they make Peeps for many occasions. Check out the official Peep website at www.marshmallowpeeps.com. Nothing like a good peep show. March 23, 2008 at 7:30 PM. Have you seen the ones shaped like peanuts are they in the peep family too? Love the peep on bike. March 24, 2008 at 2:51 PM. Yet still awesome stale.

Training in Appalachia: We're Not Lazy!

http://appalachiancycling.blogspot.com/2008/03/were-not-lazy.html

Friday, March 21, 2008. I would like to debunk a common misconception that people have of Appalachian folk. Often times, we are labeled as being lazy and overweight. This is not entirely true.it is our pets that are lazy and overweight. This is Cocoa, my 20lb cat waking up from a 4 hour nap. For scale, I placed a 2 LITER. Of Coke beside her (think about it). She doesn't like Coke by the way- that is for me. March 21, 2008 at 8:01 PM. March 22, 2008 at 4:21 PM. That's a big cat! July 31, 2008 at 2:07 PM.
