They turned out pretty good at 4-6 months old. This gave me the confidence to keep going, my dream was to turn out great cheeses so we never had to buy them from the store again. Applegarth Farm: Garden Pictures

http://applegarthgardens.blogspot.com/2014/12/garden-pictures.html

Wednesday, December 31, 2014. David Austin Rose Munstead Wood. My daughter came out with the camera and snuck in a few pics of me watering the garden. This is one of my favorite Summertime rituals. Actually as I sit in the January rain and dark. I can hardly wait for the need to water again! David Austin Climbing Rose "Shropshire Lad". This is what I talk of around Mother's Day. The one above Kaley got me for Mother's Day this past year. Dahlias, Plums, and Roses from the garden. Snohomish County, Washin...

Poppy Patch Ride Um Cowboy" is our buck's official pedigreed name, his Dam is Poppy Patch Dutchess, a winning show goat, his sire is Algedi Farm Honeymoon Bay, plus he has Ponders End, Rosasharn, and Twin Creeks in his bloodline. Excellent udders are in his lines, I'm hoping he'll produce some fine offspring this coming season. The courting began with an audience of curious does. Well, besides m...

Applegarth Farm: January 2013

Tuesday, January 29, 2013. Back to Normal in God's Country. He recommended uploading photo's onto photobucket and then you can upload them onto your blog for free and there is no charge per month. Almost 2 hours of trying to upload photo's and I simply took a break and didn't go online for about a week, I sometimes do this when I'm feeling frustrated with my dial up connection. I'm not sure what my problem was but it is now working just fine.go figure! Sunday, January 13, 2013. Monday, January 7, 2013.

Monday, December 24, 2012. Christmas Memories and Decorations. A wreath's welcome on our front door, I usually make one or two in early December from cedar boughs. I like all different types of wreaths and have made them from our Douglas and Noble fir trees too. My favorite wreath though is just a simple fresh cedar one with a red ribbon. The Christmas mouse was sewn and pieced together during my quilting and sewing years. We bring him out every year, his whiskers are gone, I need to patch a few places,.

the weathered pane: October 2011

http://theweatheredpane.blogspot.com/2011_10_01_archive.html

If these panes could talk, what would they say about the family that lived inside? Living the cottage life, Alaskan style! Monday, October 3, 2011. I'm going to be warm this winter! Woo hoo Woo hoo! That's me, doing the happy dance! For years, my hubby and I have had discussions of an alternative heat source for the house. When we moved into this house, there was electric heat and a Monitor stove. We knew we wouldn't be using electric heat and the Monitor was old and not efficient. Look at him go! This i...

If these panes could talk, what would they say about the family that lived inside? Living the cottage life, Alaskan style! Sunday, April 28, 2013. I lied when I posted on the 22nd that we were well on our way to Spring. Well, we're well on our way to SOMETHING. but it isn't Spring! This weekend brought 6" of new snow and today it's seriously snowing some more. ENOUGH ALREADY! But look at this. even the slugs are confused! Saturday, April 27, 2013. If these panes could talk, what would they say about the family that lived inside? Living the cottage life, Alaskan style! Tuesday, June 18, 2013. An Uncommon Juneau Summer. Summer in Juneau is typically, shall we say, wet? I read in the paper the other day that the average temp for Juneau in June is 62 degrees. For the past couple weeks it's been in the high 70's AND 80's! Our skin. Our brain. Our bodies. Good weather in Juneau is iffy on a good year. So when the sun comes out, so do the people! Today I...

If these panes could talk, what would they say about the family that lived inside? Living the cottage life, Alaskan style! Monday, June 17, 2013. There's nothing quite like the first taste of the season of fresh King Salmon. Melt.in.your.mouth.good. With oils oozing out of the flesh, onto the plate, ready to be wiped up with a piece of French bread. Yep, eating at its finest. Then the waiter stopped at our table and asked how it was. do I dare say, "overcooked"? I stumbled for a second, then I stuck my f...

If these panes could talk, what would they say about the family that lived inside? Living the cottage life, Alaskan style! Monday, June 24, 2013. Today I Turn 61. I really don't much care for birthdays. I'm not one of those who will celebrate all week long. It's not that I hate getting older because I don't. I just don't like being the center of attraction. No But that's neither here nor there. Being 61 is okay. My son gets a fire going in the pit. We're hoping the smoke will keep the bugs away. I became...

If these panes could talk, what would they say about the family that lived inside? Living the cottage life, Alaskan style! Friday, July 29, 2011. We've been having a lot of rain this week, real Fall weather. So it seemed like a good time to make a batch of seafood chowder. If you know me, a "batch" isn't a small pot, perfect for the two of us for a meal. It means a large stock pot, maybe even overflow, perfect for sayyyyyy 10-12 people! Then I skipped a couple steps and now you see the bacon frying.

If these panes could talk, what would they say about the family that lived inside? Living the cottage life, Alaskan style! Sunday, September 4, 2011. Fall is hitting us head on! The leaves are falling. It's windy. The days of all daylight are turning into shorter days with less daylight. Pretty soon we'll be winterizing our gardens and tidying up the place in preparation for winter. Then I can sit back and read. Some of my other favorite reads are books that are centered around cooking, like Francesca's ...

the weathered pane: Laundry Day

http://theweatheredpane.blogspot.com/2013/06/laundry-day.html

If these panes could talk, what would they say about the family that lived inside? Living the cottage life, Alaskan style! Thursday, June 20, 2013. Growing up, I remember laundry day when my mom would hang the laundry outside to dry. But it never dawned on me, as an adult, to do it. Maybe it's because we don't have hot summers or a lot of sunny days. There's something comforting in hanging laundry outside to dry. I don't know why that is, maybe because it takes me back to the basics. This is how ...Befor...

Tuesday, August 17, 2010. Life on Applegarth Grange is filled with simple pleasures. One of them is homemade granola. Here is a recipe we use, from the ".
