February 26, 2008. Doggy in the Window. Cut one leg from a pair of lady’s tights and fill it with rice. Leave enough room to tie the open end into a tight knot. For a tail, apply fabric glue across the base of a felt triangle (about 2½ inches wide and 7 inches tall) and sandwich it around the knot. Apply more glue to the sides and then fold the felt in half. Secure the tail with paper clips until the glue dries. Glue on googly eyes. This way, when you flop the ear down, the stitching won’t show. Subscrib...

May 14, 2008. Jesus, who did not have evil thoughts, responded to others as our example for good in thinking no evil. During the storm at sea he was confronted by the disciples, "Carest thou not that we perish? 8221; He responded, "Why are ye so fearful? How is it that ye have no faith? Who can forgive sins but God only? Jesus, knowing their thoughts, asked, “Wherefore think ye evil in your hearts? May 14, 2008. Just Beyond My Means". When a large portion of our population is hopelessly in debt, it seems some of us may well ask, "What in the world is going on? One last thing. why do families move so often these days? All these old-fashioned notions may not cancel out our national debt, but I'll guarantee our own personal debt would be a lot less. Let us all endeavor to be the good steward that Ruth was and not live just beyond our means. Posted by Apples of Gold. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

For the Pastor's Wife: June 2008

June 17, 2008. The summer has definitely arrived here on Long Island. It is 97 degrees here today and not a very June. Day at all. Our June days are easy on the heat, usually pleasant but not. Unusual to need a sweater now and then. June is always synonymous with the end of school and the beginning of summer vacation in New York. A time of year when even the month’s name itself even sounds like a big sigh of relief. June. Before long it would be shower time. Themselves. After snack time. And this is the ...

Monday, July 28, 2008. E" is for Elderberry. Since Elderberry is a diuretic, and promotes all fluid secretions, helping to cleanse the system. By promoting heavy sweating, Elderberry also opens the pores, and in that manner it aids the further elimination of toxic material and impurities from the body through the skin. Elderberry is powerful laxative and has been used as a natural intestinal cleanser for centuries. Posted by Apples of Gold. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). A Gathering of Herbs. The Way It Is.

April 30, 2008. My daughter and grandson were cleaning out her fireplace in the anticipation of the longed for spring and warm summer. As she shoveled out the remains from the latest fire lighting she glanced at me quizzically and asked if I sill wanted ashes for the garden. Gram used ash dust on her rose bushes that lined the east side of the driveway for as long as I could remember. Agreed, it was not always a pretty sight seeing the rose plant leaves covered with gray ash. But after the very f...Accor...

They are the people whom we all know and whom we all find ourselves wondering about. 8220;What will they be like today? I must’ve said something wrong—look at that scowl! They must like me today! August 14, 2008. 8220;Goodbye, Mr. Fourth of July”. Are you guys gonna be here for a while? 8221; John, sitting across from his father on a warm summer evening out on the back deck, leaning forward, receiving instruction. And now this new memory—John, sitting beside me, quietly crying, saying good-bye. 8221; the groom threw his arms around me, ”I’m getting’ married today! Posted by Apples of Gold.

Reminisce

August 14, 2008. Each morning I went out to the garden to check on how my little "zucchis" were doing. They weren't doing much! There they all sat for weeks not growing very much, but not dying either—so far, so good. Their neighboring veggie's were doing great however. I tenderly weeded them each day fearing the roots of the weeds would grab hold of their tiny zucchini roots and pull them down to who knows where. The funny thing about all this is that I really didn't care for the taste of zucchini until...

August 14, 2008. A Breakfast Nook Just for You! An optional area rug always warms up a space and gives you a soft, warm place to put your feet. You can decide if a rug will work with your space and decor. Don't forget about lighting. August 14, 2008. Nabal, on the other hand, did not have concern for others. He was a wealthy man and had means of support, but when he was told of the needs of David and his men, he replied, " what has that to do with me? For the Pastor's Wife

August 14, 2008. As fall approaches you may be asking the same question I am: What happened to the summer? The average person sits in front of the TV or computer—just to pass the time away—for 2 hours each day. I’d even say that’s a conservative figure. But, if you add even those 2 little hours up over the course of 60 years—they amount to a full seven years! Do you realize what could have been accomplished in seven years? 8220;Friends, I have lost a day.”. Posted by Apples of Gold. For the Pastor's Wife.
