Just another WordPress.com site. A Plan with Books. August 26, 2011. So I work full time in the city, but I dont live in the city. What that means is I have a good 60 minute commute each way, each day. Over a week, thats 10 hours, pretty insane when a week is only 168 hours (I think). Thats about 6% of my time each week spent travelling, and at present im not using that time wisely. Or something on my list? I’ll see how I’m feeling in a few weeks. Just another WordPress.com site. Version Control →. Test Scraper Report and Sidestepping Problems. February 2, 2011. So a few days ago my brother asked me to write a program that grabbed search results from this website and process them. For more detail you can read the original post here. This program had to grab several hundred pages off the net, and this caused an issue because for some reason the program would crash or stall after a handful of requests. Sometimes 5, sometimes 20 or 30. As an example,...

So I’ve been lazy and haven’t done anything with regards to my program in a few days, but my brother has a thing he wants me to try out which I can use Python for, so thats good. Here is my general algorithm which is similar to the other program but why not lay things out concretely. 1) use some python module (probably urllib) to grab the webpage. 4) put this information in a dictionary somehow (might need to think more about this).
