No Joke: And we're back
http://aprilfirst.blogspot.com/2010/05/and-were-back.html
Sometimes it's hard not to look at the Sun. It has been quite a while since I wrote anything here. The main reason for this has been tat I have ried with moderate success to try to push BIID out of my mind and just get on with my life. As I went on with this, it did get easier for a while to focus on other tasks and generally not have to deal with the issues that were gnawing at my mind. So here I am, back at square one and not sure what to do with myself. I'm annoyed at my own failings and unsure wh...

Sometimes it's hard not to look at the Sun. I have mentioned in the past that I use contact lenses to oscure my vision in order to help relieve the symptoms of BIID. Some people have been asking where I get these from and how much they cost, so I thought I would write a quick post about it. The ones I have been most impressed with lately are " Blind Halloween Contacts. I just replied to an email received almost a year ago to the day. Why is this? Because I lost the password for my email address. In the l...
No Joke: Real Life Tests
http://aprilfirst.blogspot.com/2007/07/real-life-tests.html
Sometimes it's hard not to look at the Sun. The question is: what length of time would be suitable for such a test? My initial thought was for something between six months and a year of non-stop, in-role living. However, would six months be long enough to adjust and then actually have enough time to undertake the test proper? I'm not sure. Perhaps a year-long test would be better. If it can be shown in this way that the disability provides a better standard of life for the person, surely not. This also a...

Sometimes it's hard not to look at the Sun. Comparisons with other conditions. I received an interesting and thought-provoking comment. On my last entry that I thought warranted its own post in response, as I could see it being a long reply. I've linked to the post with the comment in question but the gist of it is this:. What do you feel about the comparisons some people with BIID make between that and GID/transsexualism, and the connection some people make to Munchauser's Syndrome? However, is totally ...
No Joke: December 2007
http://aprilfirst.blogspot.com/2007_12_01_archive.html
Sometimes it's hard not to look at the Sun. A discussion of views on BIID. While doing a search through Google's Blog Search tool (very useful if you're looking for Joe Public's opinion on something or, like me, if you're sat at home bored because you're too ill to go out! These are people who have a strong desire to have a particular disability and feel depressed and incomplete without it.". I'm sure this will cause controversy but don't I always? Truth is, I don't really care. :) You're entitled to...

The blog of a woman in her mid 20s that wishes to be moderately/severely Deaf. This is called "Deaf-wannabe." This blog deals with "taboo" topics. If it bothers you please do not read. Tuesday, August 28, 2007. I bought a pair of Etymotic ER-6i earphones a week or two ago and their potential to damage/destroy my hearing is making me really excited about the whole prospect. I can't help but looking forward to spending time with them in my ears with my ipod or itunes cranked up! Links to this post. I hate ...

The blog of a woman in her mid 20s that wishes to be moderately/severely Deaf. This is called "Deaf-wannabe." This blog deals with "taboo" topics. If it bothers you please do not read. Tuesday, January 29, 2008. In the BIID community there's a lack of terminology available to us. We tend to say "wannabe", "need", and "want" and "desire" and the other synonyms to describe how we are effected. But they're not right and their other meanings too simplistic and convey an inappropriate meaning. On the BIID fro...

The blog of a woman in her mid 20s that wishes to be moderately/severely Deaf. This is called "Deaf-wannabe." This blog deals with "taboo" topics. If it bothers you please do not read. Sunday, July 20, 2008. I should post an update. It's been over two months since I've last posted. Last time my efforts didn't pan out well with the cotton. It requires a LOT of cotton to get a good seal and it really does make the ear canal ache. Went without, alas. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Friday, January 25, 2008. Where have I been? I've been in my own little world. I was in Canada for three weeks over Christmas and New Years. I've told Casey that it's over and that I want a divorce. Life for me is very stressful as of late. Life is very much "same shit different day". January 30, 2008 at 4:10 AM.

Wednesday, May 23, 2007. A Reply to Intolerance. It should come as no surprise to the readers of this blog that I subscribe to a Yahoo list for people who wish to be deaf. Though that list I came across this link. The post is about a soap opera in the UK called Holby City. Lt was different for Holby to cover something like...

Wednesday, May 14, 2008. So for me it's relatively easy to simulate deafness (or probably more aptly "hard of hearingness"). Just shove some oiled cotton in my ears and hope no one looks down my ear canal. Easy. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Transabled - Just another disability! View my complete profile.

fighting courage and eyeing stilettos
Fighting courage and eyeing stilettos. The stance of displayed shoes, wrecked shoe racks and a thinking soul. Tuesday, June 21, 2011. We are never actors on stage. Yes, fat is ugly, acne is ugly, black is ugly, it is just the reality that we have to accept. We are all being lied to. Everybody lies. Thursday, June 16, 2011. Monday, June 13, 2011. It hurts me when these women cried and I wonder would I be one of them in the future? As my mother once said the night before the solemnisation, "Your heaven is ...
