Art has always been a major part of my life. When other kids were watching TV, I was making dogs from pipe cleaners and cotton batting or drawing horses. I graduated from Mass. College of Art with a dual major in art education and crafts. While raising 2 children, I ran a storefront art studio in Marblehead, MA called Hands On! I have a small studio building, formerly a wood shop, and I am fortunate to work right at home! I enjoy walking in the woods and playing in my vegetable and flower gardens!

Along with making ceramic house plaques, I enjoy doing art in other mediums. I create large and small scale mosaic and tile projects, painting, and fabric projects. Lately I have played with felting and monoprinting on clay. I thought it would be fun to include a page of mixed media projects. Each oval house plaque begins when earthenware SLIP (watered down clay) is poured into a hand made plaster mold. The clay dries out and the plaque is carefully removed and dried for several days. Once dry, the plaques are sanded and sponged smooth. At this point, the design and lettering are sketched on. April paints each plaque with UNDERGLAZES, a paint made from clay and pigments or oxides.

Andes for a couple of days and did some sight-seeing and then took another too-long bus ride back to Buenos. That I care to give you all a sense of closure. I know how hard bringing an end to things can be! Alright, so San Martin. I had time to laugh, stand up, and turn around before Rubi came riding around the bend. "April! I paint ceramic house plaques with names, addresses, or numbers in colors and designs personalized for your home! My name is April Frost. House plaques are made from Earthenware clay, in 2 sizes. Lettering is done only on the large size. April hand paints and letters (or numbers) each plaque. Plaques can be horizontal or vertical. You choose the design and the colors. Allow 4-6 weeks for painting and firing and 2-10 days, depending on your location, for shipping.
