Ape (a primate experience). Vervet monkeys live in troops of up to 20, It consists of an Alpha male and a second in command or a scout in the form of a beta-male. There is a harem of adult females as well as the juveniles which are governed by an Alpha female. The Alpha is the only male in the troop who is allowed to mate with his ‘Harem’ of sexually mature females. The second in commands task is to search out sources of food as well as to warn the troop of impending danger. LIVING WITH THE VERVET MONKEY.

January 2008 they claimed his mother had abandoned him, the truth is that mothers don’t do this so it is assumed that the mother had died or been killed, it is encouraging that the local people took the time to bring him to the sanctuary generally any animal ophaned abandoned ill or injured around this area needing a home is bought here. Ape (a primate experience). I spent the first week of my return to S.A. in Cape Town, a beautiful place with breathtaking scenery, I visited Cape Point where the naughty monkeys are. An organised tour is available to show people the nicer side of these monkeys, www. baboonmatters. Baboon matters project, employs local men to look after these baboons and try to transfer and locate them away from danger. Just shutting and locking these doors would stop the problem. Heather’s Borneo Diaries. My experience of orangutan conservation and rehabiliation in the forests of Malaysia. Bako National Park, in Sarawak, is an animal haven. You start off at Bako village and then take a short boat ride to the beach and mangroves if you are lucky you will come across a croccodile sitting on an upturned boat or a family of otters playing at the side of the river, the trip is interesting you are in a small boat and pass many local fisherman on the journey which takes about 1/2 hr.
