Another attempt to try and salvage out somethin' from my seemingly inconsequential existence. Thursday, February 28, 2008. A one stop for most of us, if not all to find a high quality video. Be it the movies or the TV shows, Stage6. Has always been there. As expected, it was a shocker when news broke out that these folks are closing it down due to lack of funds. The detailed letter has been put over here. Wednesday, February 27, 2008. Tuesday, February 26, 2008. Brett Lee-ing all the way. Medal had quite...

Another attempt to try and salvage out somethin' from my seemingly inconsequential existence. Wednesday, October 31, 2007. Halloween' be thy name! An end-term exam day after, but I couldn't let go off getting a feel of Halloween after all! Incredible and spooky at the same time - it was quite unbelievable to see an entire bandwagon parading through downtown here in Austin wearing in the most wierd attire you can imagine! Happy Halloween. :D. Gives it all. In a nutshell,. Becoming commonly used jargons.

Another attempt to try and salvage out somethin' from my seemingly inconsequential existence. Thursday, May 31, 2007. Surface Computing. A Long Standing Due. Style and Innovation is definitely in - after Apple. Announced iPhones, a novel concept, its now Microsoft. Which has managed to turn people's heads. Microsoft is now trying to bring it to the common world. I saw a couple of videos related to the same, and the gizmo looks jazzy enough to deserve a mention. Well, it might not really be of use as ...

Another attempt to try and salvage out somethin' from my seemingly inconsequential existence. Wednesday, July 9, 2008. I can't get enough of the epic final, and fortunately someone had put a high quality series of highlights of the match. For those who missed the magic, like I did, get yourself a second chance. Epics like these don't take place too often, for I haven't seen. Supporter for quite sometime, it would be foolish not to complement how the King played. Monday, July 7, 2008. Were still not ready...

Another attempt to try and salvage out somethin' from my seemingly inconsequential existence. Saturday, December 15, 2007. An ol' one. but a classic! I just came across this video where Harsha Bhogle talks about Tendulkar. In an MBA school. Even if one is not a cricket fanatic, there's much to learn about work ethic from this master craftsman. Time flies by and boy, does it fly fast! No time at all a couple of days back, and now I've got this luxury of watching back to back episodes of Prison Break.

Mostly Economics: Profiling Daron Acemoglu's work

http://mostlyeconomics.blogspot.com/2007/04/growth-and-development.html

Thursday, April 26, 2007. Profiling Daron Acemoglu's work. I came across this wonderful line in something I was reading:. To paraphrase Robert Lucas (1988), once one starts to think about economic growth, it is hard to think of anything else. As I am still new to this subject (which is a case with most of the subjects) I would like to take up the papers one by one. I have covered a paper by Rajan. Recently, I have begun to read growth and development work by Daron Acemoglu. Another Clark Medal Winner.

Mostly Economics: Useful set of reports from RBI

http://mostlyeconomics.blogspot.com/2007/04/rbi-takes-out-macro-monetary.html

Tuesday, April 24, 2007. Useful set of reports from RBI. Today is the RBI Annual Policy Review for the year 2007-08. For the uninitiated in this review RBI officials take a view on the economy and decide the interest rates you and me are going to pay in coming months. What RBI changes is its benchmark rates (the rate at which RBI lends to Banks) and the Banks alter their rates structure accordingly. If RBI raises rates other follow and vice-versa. Read the summary here. And the detailed chapters are here.

Mostly Economics: More on growth and development

http://mostlyeconomics.blogspot.com/2007/04/more-on-growth-and-development.html

Monday, April 23, 2007. More on growth and development. Just to carry on with the Friday discussion on growth and development, this weekend I read a bit more on development. The more I read on this topic the more I am amazed by the available literature. As I mentioned all kinds of factors have been discussed and widely researched and written (of which I have become aware recently, phew! I read this paper by Rajan and Zingales. Mostly Economics: Assorted Links

http://mostlyeconomics.blogspot.com/2007/04/assorted-links.html

Thursday, April 26, 2007. First and foremost Dani Rodrik. Well, this is going to be a treat to read. I had heard a lot about him and discovered his work just browsing and have been hooked on since. (For the uninitiated he writes on the topic I am currently really reading about- Growth and Development; He has criticised World Bank development program popularly called Washington Consensus really well in his papers). I loved the way he mentions about Hirschman award. In his blog. You deserve it Sir!
