A blog dedicated to the Ann Arbor Farmers Market. Tuesday, July 16, 2013. New Vendor at the Market. There is a new vendor at the Market selling Asian and traditional vegetables. This is the type of vendor that the Market needs for the future. A true grower that brings a product that is a bit different. I have purchased several items from them and have been happy with all. I encourage you to visit their stall and experiment with a few different vegetables. Posted by Glenn Thompson. Monday, July 8, 2013.

A blog dedicated to the Ann Arbor Farmers Market. Thursday, August 22, 2013. This is a modification of a recipe from the “Favorite Recipes of California Winemakers”. The salad is simply equal amounts of three beans, together with onions and peppers. The veggies are marinaded in a herb flavored vinaigrette dressing. It is very simple to make and enjoy. 1 qt (as purchased) fresh green beans. 1 can (15 oz) garbanzo beans or about 2 cups of cooked dried garbanzo beans. 1 large red onion, quartered and sliced.

A blog dedicated to the Ann Arbor Farmers Market. Friday, January 17, 2014. Sauerkraut Saga - Part 2 - The Definitions. Probiotic, means that the bacterial cultures in the food are still active when consumed. Think of yogurt, the most common probiotic food. The right bacteria in our intestinal tract are very beneficial to our human digestion. If the bacteria in the food are to be active the food must be fresh and not pasteurized. Next post: some theory and history of lacto fermentation". The Friends of t...

Citizens' News Service - Ann Arbor: December 2008
http://cnsa2.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html
Citizens' News Service - Ann Arbor. Wednesday, December 31, 2008. Our City Council has proposed an ordinance that would impose large fines on property owners with graffiti on their buildings. The proposed ordinance was sponsored by Council members, Teall, Hohnke, Taylor and Greden. A copy of the ordinance is attached. Will the motto of Ann Arbor be: “If you can't pay the fine don't report the crime”? The literature on crime and graffiti does not support the claims made for the ordinance.

Citizens' News Service - Ann Arbor. Friday, February 5, 2010. Farmers Market - Financial Trends. Almost every sector of the city is in fiscal difficulty. The Ann Arbor Farmers Market is not an exception. The following bar chart of the Market expenses illustrates some of the reasons. The graph shows operating expenses only, any large one time expenses such as replacing the lighting are not included. Clearly the revenue has not increased as fast as expenses. Back when the Market cost $50,000 to operate...

Citizens' News Service - Ann Arbor. Saturday, May 14, 2011. KAREN'S* FY2012 BUDGET NEWSLETTER - Issue 1. THE FY 2012 BUDGET. The truth is that Ann Arbor is better off than other cities because we pay higher per capita taxes than other cities, even with all that U of M and city park land off the tax rolls. There are other solutions to the current fiscal mess the Mayor and his supporters have created besides continuing to slash basic services. Below are my suggested changes to the budget. In 2002, the city...
