Tuesday, 27 September 2011. Signing off here for the last time. It's time for me face facts - I'm not able to continue with this blog. I am presently in a care home in Zurich (the Susenberg Clinic) where I am scheduled to stay until the middle of next week, then it will either be back home or off to another clinic, possibly the Lighthouse in Zurich, until it's all over and I'm released from any more suffering. So this is my last entry on Blogspot - at least in this form and with this topic at the centre.

Sunday, 12 June 2011. Another stay in hospital. What a naive little boy I am! At least there's hope that I'll be able to swallow once the artificial oesophagus has been opened up again. That's all the motivation I need to face another stay in hospital. Actually, it's not that bad. I find it fairly easy to get on with the nurses (in German known as "Pflegefachfrauen" - you have to spit to pronounce it properly! And I get spoiled for a while. 12 June 2011 at 03:37. Thursday, 23 June 2011. Made it to 60. Yesterday, the 22nd June, was my 60th birthday. Nothing much to celebrate under the circumstances, but it was quite a nice day all the same. I spent a small piece of it at the hospital having another session of antibody therapy and being prescribed morphine for the increasing back pains. The antibodies are being upgraded as from next week. It appears from the latest tests that the tumour is gradually growing, so the therapy is being intensified to counter it.

Friday, 18 February 2011. So far, so good. I've been home for a full week now and things are largely under control if I ignore the mess everywhere. Boxes and boxes of tube-food, machinery with wires all over the place, dozens of packages of medication. But it's good to be in my own four walls and I'm settling into a good routine now. I have to apologise to all the many people who have enquired after my health in the meantime without getting a response. Sunday, 31 October 2010. I was transferred from Mammern to the Susenberg Clinic yesterday morning. The trip took an hour and I arrived in Susenberg just before 11 o’clock. What a difference!
