February 24, 2006. I had three favorite arcade games growing up;. Pac-Man, Rolling Thunder, and Burger Time. I made the decision to do a Pac-Man themed cabinet, I figured that would have the most univeral recognition and appeal, and I love the yellow cabinet. So I went back to my favorite source, eBay, and ordered some components; 8-way joysticks, buttons, and T-Moulding.

February 20, 2006. I'm still messing with the computer I went back to eBay and 'Kicked It Up a Notch', for $8.50. It's now a 400 MHZ with 192 MB RAM. I have noticed a marked improvement in game play, but some games, newer than about 1996, are still a bit sluggish. I used 'sortinfo' again, and deleted any games newer than 1996. Now, gameplay is much better, and I still have 797 games. I think that will keep me occupied for a while.

April 23, 2006. I drew an outline of the shape of the cabinet by hand on a sheet of the MDF. I then clamped the two peices I will use for the sides together, and used a circular saw for the srtaight cuts, and a jig saw for the curves.

January 26, 2006. Went to Big Orange and bought a 3/4 sheet of MDF, and had them rip it into 3 equal parts. These will form the basis of my cabinet. Yes, there are three sheets stacked up there. This will be the overall height of the new cabinet. You can see that this Arcade Machine for Hobbits will be considerably shorter than a full size game. Warning - progress is slow, I spend a lot of time out there racing!

August 11, 2006. I started to paint some of the peices with Rustoleum Sunburst Yellow Paint. I began with some of the parts that won't be as visible, so that if I make a mistake, or get any runs while painting, I figured I might be able to hide it easily enough. Luckily, everything went smoothly. It ended up with a really nice, high gloss finish.
