Before taking a stair to the 1st level, there is darker room where there is little light can come in but when walking up the stair, the space quality changes repidly from dark room to very bright room. This is because the stair located in the courtyard where there is a big opening. As the visitor enter the building, they will see the sculpture and the skylight above it. The light from above fall on the artwork which make it growing. This photo showing the roof plan and the skylight.

Main Gallery re entered. The circulation corridors are lit by a series of skylights that are flush with the grass roof. Due to the thickness of the roof sunlight is bounced multiple times as it makes its way down the skylight. The long grass also filters the light to a small extent since the skylights are flush. SECTION, FLOOR PLAN and AXONAMETRIC DRAWINGS. This drawing was done the same way the rest of them were. Same techniques, textures and etc. Only difference is as obviouse, it shows a Three Dimensional view of the concept. The section shows the Cross Cut. Of the two techniques. DUTCH PAINTER - PAINTING. Of this parcular painting was verry simple.

This is the site plan I have hand-drawn in the image, it makes it easier to comprehend how I blend the new building into the site. The use of natural light is very important to a gallery, in addition, as this gallery mainly exhibits metallic sculptures which are even more strict with illumination. The building I designed is in a narrow and long shape. This image shows the information and idea I have referred from other sources in order to design my building. Precedent Study 2 (Project 3).

Thursday, June 10, 2010. Final Submission Renders Poster. Ground Floor - Floor to display small figurines, hand-drawn sketches, official posters, storyboards and so forth. Workshop, Stockroom and Office is also on this floor. Third Floor - Another large display room where gallery functions can be held. The walls of this level will have many LCD screens to show short films, behind the scenes, animator/director/producer interviews of the films and other information on the making of Miyazaki animations.

Monday, June 15, 2009. Final Project: Newtown Gallery. The national gallery in Berlin was a research object that I did in History 1 course, last year. It is also the last masterpiece by Mies. With a continuation of ‘less is more’, this gallery became a simple square plan with four curtain facades and crowned by a flat square steel roof. Here is an insteresting sitting funtion of a art gallery. PLANS,SECTIONS AND PERSPECTIVES. Photo 1 shows the street view of Newtown. Photo 4 shows a main interior scene.

ARCH1202 2009 Alvin Prathama. Wednesday, June 17, 2009. Project 3 - Concept. The concept for the building is using the three different facades to blend into Newtown in a variety of ways :. The first facade blurs with its surroundings : flat, continuous facades along the side of King St. An opening is cut through the site to allow the people of Newtown to enjoy the gallery even without entering it. Longer red light at the Erskineville Rd also gives car drivers view inside the gallery. Project 3 - Model.
