Digging Down South: Swiss Chard and Winter (in a manner of speaking)
http://archaeologistontheroad.blogspot.com/2012/02/swiss-chard-and-winter-in-manner-of.html
One Archaeologist's Adventures in Food and the Dirt. Saturday, February 18, 2012. Swiss Chard and Winter (in a manner of speaking). Is that swiss chard in that sandwich? It is winter here in North Carolina. Winter is hiding just like the fuzz (sorry couldn't resist posting this picture). Except this year it has not! I have many favorite winter vegetables. I love carrots, brussels sprouts, squash, and I have even developed a soft spot for kale (prepared properly). My favorite is swiss chard. I have no ide...
Digging Down South: My List Accomplishments
http://archaeologistontheroad.blogspot.com/2012/01/my-list-accomplishments.html
One Archaeologist's Adventures in Food and the Dirt. Sunday, January 15, 2012. Max has no goals, which I feel this picture demonstrates. Okay, you probably don't remember. When my husband left to work in Germany for 9 months I made myself a bucket list. Of sorts. The goal was to force myself to live my life to the fullest, even though I was alone. I have not been recording it very well, but I am making slow and steady list accomplishments! That hole was so easy to dig, just like a big shovel test. And at...
Digging Down South: Coconut Chocolate Chip Cookies
http://archaeologistontheroad.blogspot.com/2012/03/coconut-chocolate-chip-cookies.html
One Archaeologist's Adventures in Food and the Dirt. Sunday, March 25, 2012. Coconut Chocolate Chip Cookies. It has been too long. My fault. This is a funfetti birthday cake I made from scratch, cause I am way too cool for cake mix (apparently). I made this bag as a birthday present for a special someone. It reminds me of sunshine. If anyone has Belgium suggestions please help! Max's idea of having his picture taken is attacking the camera strap (this is a photo shoot "out take"). Makes about 24 cookies.

A year in Moscow and beyond, archives and daily life. Thursday, June 21, 2012. Viktor Tsoi at 50. I saw this poster the other day in Vilnius:. And it was only seeing this memorial show advertised that I realized that today, June 21, Viktor Tsoi. Would have turned 50. Since then, I've spent a lot of time listening and learning the words, and have not a few words, phrases, and grammar construc...

A year in Moscow and beyond, archives and daily life. Saturday, June 30, 2012. Stavropol', City of Parks, Crosses, and Archives. The train ride from Moscow to Stavropol. Was long and, thanks to the lack of air conditioning, uncomfortable. However, it went as well as can be expected, and I was lucky to have pleasant neighbors in my compartment. First, the green and the parks:. Like so many cities, reconstruction of the city's Orthodox cathedral is a major project. In Russian, rather than oblast’. And late...

Cruising on our Baltic 38. How this all started. 160; I wish I could think of a clever, cute title for this post. It deserves a better title but I can’t think of a way to sum up the past week’s events in a few words. Would be a good word. Is also very descriptive. Overall, the mood was festive. I was occasionally frantic. But Lee was very supportive. Our families and friends were very generous. And we are so thankful. That so many of then came. St John was beautiful. Taxi’s were (not so) wonderful.

Cruising on our Baltic 38. How this all started. Archive for December 2010. The routine at rest. Without an intense schedule of passage making, Lee and I have settled into a routine not unlike that of teenagers in their first days of vacation. At least we don’t stay up till the wee hours of the morning or drive to the mall to hang out with our friends. We have been sleeping in a bit and then taking it easy for the better part of the day. Towne, ye olde. Ye Olde Towne Shoppe. I never thought this city wou...

One Archaeologist's Adventures in Food and the Dirt. Sunday, April 8, 2012. Momentous Weekend with Poached Eggs! This has been quite a weekend. To tell you about this weekend, I need to start with this week. I was in the Washington D.C. suburbs this weekend for work. The work was pretty routine for us, those cemeteries need mapping. We did get to go into the city on the Metro one evening, which was nice because I got to see my dear friend Matt. Hello D.C. (sorry this photo is so bad)! This is not a recip...
