Wednesday, July 21, 2010. There has been an important mindset shift by successful hiring managers, where they treat all prospective employees as candidates, not applicants. There are very important distinctions between candidates and applicants. Candidates have been sought out, they are passive, they did not apply. Applicants applied and may have fewer choices and 'need' the job. In a talent short market all potential new hires have options and lots of them and candidates even more so. How cyclical is it?
