Mountain biking with our kayaks. La Quiaca - Ushuaia, the trip that every cyclist, biker and off road rider does when looking for adventure in Argentina. More than 2000 miles to conect Argentina from north to south, a very nice trip, a classic, all the way long the n°40 road. So this is the first attempt to connect these two locations by water. Diego
We know Diego Lamas as the Gitane, gipsy or gitano. He is adapted to almost everything. Always making business, good and bad. He will be encharged of cooking and taking ¿great pictures? He told us he has photographic skills! Diego the gitane started paddling with us 2 years ago so he is making many first experiences and he is learning fast. We trust him for extreme situations and rescues in the surf zone. He dedicated most of his 27 years old to cycling and running, now he is becoming a good sea kayaker.

Objectives
Paddling for education and environment. This trip has several objectives that we would like to share with all of you. Our idea is to paddle for support for those who really need it, this time we wont paddle for records. The truth is that we never made the attempt to achieve one, maybe in our next expedition. We have three strong main objectives:. Support for rural schools. Next to nutrition, education is the first need of a community" taken from: http:/ www.escuelasrurales.com.ar/. Kayak part
River and sea, the natural road to Ushuaia. The natural road will lead us to the sea, the most difficult part of the expedition for many reasons:. Long distances with no fresh water. Difficult access to coast. Many times with sea lions living on the spot places. Strong winds and currents. Small populations sometimes far away from the coast. The Argentina coastline is owned by Estancias that are not always habitated all year long. Historically lots of shipwrecks, but we hope not so many kayak wrecks.

He will be encharged of the essentials of kayak navigation, gps, compass use and VHF to shows as the safe way to dryland everyday. Facing the wind
Welcome to our sea kayaking project, "Facing the wind". In March 2009 we will attempt to paddle more than 4.000 nautical miles along Argentina for the first time. Starting at La Quiaca, a little town settled in the heights of the northern Andes Mountains at 14.000 ft we will cycle and paddle to end this trip 10 months later in the very end of Patagonia, precisely in the city of Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego province. Why paddling 4.000 nautical miles? So, lets go paddling! Jueves, 5 de noviembre de 2009.
